Freaky Fake News Footage Serves As 'Pacific Rim' Viral Marketing

Within the last few days, the floodgates appear to have opened and a tidal wave of viral marketing has begun to wash over the internet in anticipation of the release of Guillermo del Toro's 'Pacific Rim.' Just yesterday we brought you fake memos and fake emergency broadcast systems. Today, however, Warner Brothers has taken it a step further. This fake news footage details an attack by a kaiju, the race of alien monsters that brave robot-piloting soldiers will be battling in the film. As much as this gives the movie an inaccurate found footage appearance, I gotta say they hooked me with that last shot. Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think.

'Pacific Rim' hits theaters July 12th, 2013

Although I'd be perfectly happy with this teaser even if it was...

Jesus christ, it's not a found footage movie. Relax. Can't you guys read the article or any other thats come out about this movie in the last 3 months?

I'm not too worried about the viral marketing looking like handheld footage. Didn't they say there was going to be 3D now?

I mean come on...who would be crazy enough to put the two most popular gimmicks of films today into the same movie...haha right? RIGHT?
