As I was riding the wave of video to video on Youtube, I found one particular segment that was listed as, "THE GREATEST MOVIE FIGHT EVAR!!!11!" and simultaneously as, "THE WORST MOVIE FIGHT EVAR!!!11!" So what fight scene could have movie watchers so polarized?
Allow me to present the film Undefeatable. You know you have a gem when action star Cynthia Rothrock, the female equivalent to Don "the Dragon" Wilson and Lorenzo Lamas, is your lead. And if you just gotta have more of these three 'badasses', check out Sci-Fighter (2004) which has all three of these losers.
Awesome, huh?
And as an added gem, this fight scene from the same film:
The sad thing is that the terrible acting makes the scene actually more believable. Bad acting, a funny little Asian kid and unintentionally hysterical one-liners almost trump having both eyes poked out...but not quite.
Oldboy is one of my favorite films, even after repeat viewings. In fact, in my eyes, it has become more powerful.
This does not mask, though, the utter ridiculousness of the infamous hallway fight in which our protagonist, Oh dae-su, fights off over a dozen armed guys with only a hammer. If that doesn't scream badass, I don't know what does. Maybe you'd rather kick a kitten, I dunno.
But if they could, they'd be, "What the fuck." Kibakichi (2004) was a movie about a werewolf samurai. Kibakichi 2 was about a turd put on film, who cares, this fight scene is abominable.
They Live, starring one of my favorite wrestlers of my youth, Rowdy Roddy Piper, and 'That Guy' Keith David, was about Piper, a jobless bum who finds a box of sunglasses that reveal that society's rulers are actually fly-eyed aliens. And, at over five minutes, it has one of the longest and most badass fight scenes ever.
I always enjoyed the ending when that chick is having sex with the dude and after the satellite is knocked down his fugly face is revealed and he's like, "wot?"
This movie is about a dude who goes to jail. Sounds pretty run-of-the-mill until he busts out his superpowered karate and blood starts flying everywhere.
I love it when the ravens eat the dude's eye and then he tries to choke Ricky with his intestines. The best part is when the headmaster is like, "Oscar, you got a lot of guts."
To continue with the same film, this isn't much of a fight, but HOLY SHIT, is it awesome.
Honorable mention
I think Darth Maul is such an awesome villain; he's got facial tats, A DOUBLE-SIDED LIGHTSABER, and horns, it is quite possibly the only thing George Lucas got right with the prequels. Plus it has Duel of the Fates, my fave John Williams composition. Let's hit up McDonald's 'cos I'm lovin' it.
What ridiculous fight scenes have you guys seen? If it's got a YouTube clip, so much the better. Let's share, because sharing is caring.
I chose these fights because they are ridiculous; I'm not passing judgement on whether they are good or not. In fact, if you read what I wrote, I found the Oldboy and They Live fights most badass.
And I don't care what you guys say (Andres, Deadbeat) Darth Maul will always be number 1 in my heart.
Qban Knight, that Hard Boiled scene is insane and all in one take too! I've never seen the movie, but I'll have to check it out now. If it were a FPS, they'd have 100% accuracy, no lie.
Keyser sose, that fight from Pineapple Express is so hilarious and ridiculous, a welcome addition, but the Dead-Alive clip totally OWNS. I remember watching that flick with one of my friends and he had to leave because he was eating a sandwich. Yeah, spilt guts and digestion don't mix apparently.
ROFLkiten, I love that clip from Cabin Fever. It makes up for the rest of its craptasticness. PANCAKES!
