First Trailer For Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom'

Wes Anderson ('The Royal Tenenbaums,' 'Rushmore') is fairly divisive director; someone whose films people seem to either love or hate. Personally I tend to like his films, but his name alone on a film does not guarantee that I will enjoy it. However, something about this first trailer for his latest film 'Moonrise Kingdom' leads me to believe that it will probably fall into the win category for me. Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand join Anderson regulars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman for what appears to be the world's strangest boy scout jamboree. Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.

'Moonrise Kingdom' will have a limited release stateside on May 25th

This looks brilliant. Wes Anderson films are like comfort food for me. Fucking amazing cast by the way, but that's no surprise.

What the fuck was that?

@Longleke Yes, well not everyone can be as brilliant as Kubrick and Nolan. And while Wes Anderson may not make masterpieces of cinema, I'll be damned if I'm not at least somewhat entertained by his films. I enjoy his style of directing, because he doesn't need to tell "the best story every imagined in the history of forever." He's best at telling quirky comedies showcasing the idiosyncrasies of people.

And as with 80% of all forms of creative media, there is little to no substance, but that does not make them less enjoyable or entertaining. Not every film needs substance to be enjoyable, which is why the Transformers films are as popular as they are.

@Boatloads1017
You can't equate a director's style to substance. Therefore no, saying "he makes the same movie (every time)" can NOT apply to any damn director. "Style" is aesthetic. In other words it reflects the director's artistic vision. Sure, Wes Anderson oozes style out his ass and that's a very refreshing thing... artistically speaking. However, you don't need over the top style to make a good or original movie. Just ask Christopher Nolan.

When Anderson haters say that he makes the same movie every time they mean that he makes fucking Napoleon Dynamite every time. They're not criticizing his style so much as they'd like to see him leave his comfort zone. In that sense, I view complaints about Wes Anderson as similar to those thrown at Zack Snyder or Tim Burton.

To me, the best example I can think of to illustrate my point is this: Stanley Kubrick had style out the ass as well, even explored the same themes in most of his films... but goddamn if he didn't make a radically different movie every! single! time! ........And that is something that Wes Anderson does not do.

I pray to the closest moderator on the website. Please please smite down @Cincinnatis Flee post. I came here for a trailer except my ears were blown up by music I have zero interest in listening to. This is a movie website.
