Wow, Disney is really chugging along with the marketing for Gore Verbinski's 'The Lone Ranger.' Just yesterday the poster dropped, and now we've got the first trailer. I'm still interested, just because I love that character, but it does strike me how little The Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) is in this trailer for 'The Lone Ranger.' Oh, but we get plenty of silly-looking Tonto (Johnny Depp). Hopefully the next trailer will do a better job establishing our hero. Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.

'The Lone Ranger' rides into theaters July 3rd, 2013

Like myself, Depp is a Kentuckian. For those who don't live here in the....ermmmm, fallen navel hair that got stuck in the Bible belt, all white people here claim some kind of 'Cherokee' heritage (most my age around 1/32), at family cookouts, or whenever some dude knows enough to go bow hunting for Bambi (deelicious! IF you know how to cook 'im!).  So, all I had to see is the Disney name behind 'Depp as Tonto' to know I'm one of thousands of white people here who probably should not go see this movie out of silent respect for any native Americans, because pretty much anyone would have been better for this role, and Disney needs to 'just stop', while anything they touch still has a soul (er something).

IMDB says Disney budgeted $250 million for this pending 'dropped deuce'.  So, let me ask one more really dumb, obnoxious, and possibly overtly offensive (if rhetorical!) question: "How does Disney do it?"

As in, "How do they afford to lose that much money?"  They must have more than the collected wealth of a thousand Vaticans locked up in Cinderella's Castle next to Disney's head, or have been taking very good notes from Madoff himself about operating a ponzi scam, because...geez, it's been bad from them...MANY, MANY times over.

Now this...Jake Silverheels would cry (after beating Depp into an unrecognizable pulp, that is).  AND a '2nd-fiddle' Lone Ranger played by (basically) a name synonymous with household baking soda?  GREeeaaat.  I'll watch syndicated Lone Ranger's 'long' before I'll watch this.

Hope it's better than it looks, because it looks more forgettable than...um...I must've forgotten it.

Well that was generic looking.

I'm gonna check this out, and not because it has Johnny Depp. But because I used to listen to the old radio show and I enjoyed the character in my youth. And just like "The Rocketeer", I like to see how they transition this character to the big screen. I'm interested in this movie now

Hmmm...I like the Lone Ranger, and always wondered what he would look like if played a bit more like a Clint Eastwood 'Man with No Name'-style badass. This...well, it is not that. Of course, it IS Disney.

Actually Gypsies are an ethnic group. They are originally known as the Romani. A Nomadic people Originally from Romani, an Indian Subcontinent. Over hundreds of year they have spread across Europe and other countries including Brazil and Cuba, there are even descendents of actual Romani People here in the U.S. but you won't be seeing any T.V. Shows about them. They are misnamed Gypsies because people thought they came from Egypt. I have two friends, two brothers from Paraguay who are musicians Of Romani descent. One plays Flamenco Guitar and the other is one of the top Harpist in the world. The Origins of Flamenco Music can also be traced back to Romani.

But all i care about is hearing months ago ARE THERE WERE WOLVES IN THIS VERSION STILL? thats what I'm worried about, suspension of disbelief and an actor putting on a good entertaining performance is what matters, not what race he is or is not or pretending to be. BUT WERE ARE THE FUCKING WERE WOLVES????!!!!!!!!!!!
