King of the Koopas posted a statusSacha Baron Cohen ('Borat,' 'Bruno') is very hit or miss with me. I think his ability to create and commit unflinchingly to wild characters is admirable, but I find his reliance on "average people put on the spot" mockumentary humor tiresome. That's why I enjoyed this first trailer for his upcoming, obviously scripted, comedy 'The Dictator.' He plays a Middle Eastern, you guessed it, dictator who comes to America. There are some things about it I dislike, namely the inclusion of Megan Fox as...Megan Fox. However, Cohen manages to make this clearly over-the-top caricature interesting and quite funny. The scene of his creative method of winning a footrace had me in stitches. Give it a watch below and tell us what you think.

Comment by ChumpZilla on December 16, 2011 at 11:59am I love how people are assuming that Cohen is targeting the entire Muslim community with his new film. Are people really to be that FUCKING ignorant to say that there hasn't been Arab dictators ruling the Middle East for decades. I think Cohen has balls and I think it's unfair for one religious group to have exemption from satire. People are retarded to think Cohen is pushing a zionist agenda. Fuck all the haters I will see this movie and ENJOY IT!
Comment by Guitaro Man on December 15, 2011 at 9:52pm I daresay this is the most emotion we've seen from Ms. Fox's acting. But yeah, I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at this trailer.
Comment by Matthew Roussow on December 15, 2011 at 9:17pm I loved the Megan Fox scene...

Comment by Brannagyn on December 15, 2011 at 7:12pm @Kreator: Try using a dictionary to understand what 'hypocrisy' actually means and then look for cases where specific people have contradicted themselves.
When making Borat, Baron-Cohen was a crude slightly racist idiot making films that a film that was far below his previous comedic output but still attempting (and mostly failing) to use its character to say something about wider society. His politics explicitly crept through only in the 'Throw the jew down the well' scene but that one actually worked.
In Bruno his prejudices were much more clear and he tried to score nasty political points against people actually working to promote civil rights. Now with the Dictator he seems to have dedicated an entire movie to reenforcing crude stereotypes of a group of people the US has been receiving negative propaganda about for the past decade. Or perhaps you think the fact the US has waged war against Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen, etc. and propped up dictators in Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, etc. to be irrelevant to the message the movie gives?
from 'Back to the Future' through crap like Sandlers 'Zohan' Hollywood (and in the case of 24, Homeland and so many otehrs, tv too) will never miss a chance to portray Arabs or Muslims as terrorists or caricatures. As a result you end up shows that actually protray the reality (All-American Muslim) having their advertising pulled for promoting un-American values in the minds of people all to easily influenced by this kind of crude but clearly effective propaganda.
Whatever impact or talent he had, just by seeing this trailer, I'm just saying again, his shtick is officially old and irritating now. he's like that kid in high-school who even though your not judgemental and you want all types to come to your party, you just didn't want this one to show up, and when he does your like go away buddy you just seem to piss everyone off lol. Therefore, Sasha Baron whatever, go away loser.
Comment by Chris Bartel on December 15, 2011 at 12:20pm Just like bruno, and borat this looks like crap never have i hated a comedian as much as i hate sacha baron cohen when he is the lead actor, he's tolerable in movies where he is a side character because i know he didn't write it, but as far as his own movies i didn't laugh once in borat and walked out half way through that garbage (you can't even call what he does entertainment) this trailer just shows me that in order for him to get any laughs he tries to push the button which in itself is boring and tired.
I can only compare what he does to a 3 year old kid who wants candy and will keep saying the same thing till his parents give in and give him the candy or tell him they are leaving the store right away.
Comment by Mrstabber on December 15, 2011 at 10:57am I just love the comment hypocrisy <3.
I can count the people I've heard saying "the way he portrays Eastern-Europeans in this movie is repulsive and unfunny" on one hand. But now that he's mocking Arabs there is suddenly a major problem, now he's unfunny, a "douche" and very untalented. Ah....
Comment by Gray on December 15, 2011 at 10:11am Baron-Chone is a repuslive douche and quite clearly an ardent zionist. In his bruno movie he managed to manipulate a non-violent Palestinian rights activist into a good faith interview and after two hours of feigning interest in the issue lobbed some oddball questions at him about bin Laden and Al Qaeda before pleading to be kidnapped by the supposed 'terrorist'. He actually went on Letterman describing the man as actual hardcore terrorist, but of course you can get away with that kind of slander against Arabs and Muslims (which it should be clear are not necessarily one and the same, only 18% of Muslims are Arab, try picturing an asian instead and you're more likely to be accurate).
Much like Adam Sandler he's gleefully happy to create a movie that would be vilified as a throwback to the worst sort s of pre-civil rights racism if directed against any other ethnic group. Obviously we can't expect anyone to come out with a major Hollywood release doing the same for Israel, Zionism in general or the hatefully fanatical Settler movement but even by the standards of the puerile bigotry genre its bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. At least when Larry David raises the same old racist stereotypes he can bring some humour to it.
