A few months ago, I watched a three-minute Spanish short film called 'Mama.' It was intense and creepy as all get out, and I remembered hearing something about it being picked up for production as a feature-length film. Well today we've got the first trailer for the feature 'Mama' starring Jessica Chastain ('Lawless') and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ('Game of Thrones'). 'Mama' was directed by Andres Muschietti (who also wrote and directed the short) and produced by Guillermo del Toro. I gotta say, the trailer made me jump more than once. Take a look at it below and let us know what you think.

'Mama' hits theaters January 13th, 2013

I like the GDT camp;however I think this will be a woman in black jump scare. Woman in Black had scenes where a scence was building up to the actual scare for the audience and for the acotr or actress and it turns out it was nothing.

I think, judging from the trailer, if the family is still living in the house after all the shinnanigens are going on the movie is probably some ol bullshit!

Yeah Superman run away from that cat!

It's a January release Mr. Michael. It might make bank the first week, I mean check that devil whatever movie earlier this year. I know dozens of people who go to the movies at least every other week, and the way they choose movies might as well be a dartboard with a piece of paper tacked to it. And since it's a slow month, people will probably flock to it anyways. It's 2spooky and it's got a girl who shows cleavage, what a crowd pleaser.

Ghost stories have been done before, for centuries, but it doesn't mean this will not be good. Unfortunately, audiences seem to judge the quality of a horror movie based on the amount of jumps scares they get. It is sad, but I feel this movie will not make a huge amount of money because of this. Bring on PA5

Well, it's about two girls left in the forest after their mother dies. Just like the premise to that movie Nell with Jodie Foster and Liam Neeisen. I guess it'a horror twist on that. They just need Liam Neeisen in this to kick some Mama ass.

I'm pretty excited for this. I really dug the hell out of the short film (for whatever that's worth).

What is a ghost? A tragedy condemned to repeat itself time and again

that same quote is in two other Guillermo films. the first one being his devil's backbone and the second one is one he also produce, The Orphanage

Well this looks derivative.

I agree Er9c The Technician. CGI just isn't fucking scary.
