First Trailer For 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation'

I am not a fan of 2009's 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.' This trivial confession bears relevance only as a testament to the first trailer for Jon Chu's sequel 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation.' This thing kicks seven hundred different kinds of ass. I mean come on, that sword battle on the face of a mountain? Are you kidding me?! I love the shot of the Cobra flags unfurling over the White House, the techno remix of 'Seven Nation Army' is killer, and hey, no more annoying rubber lips on Snake Eyes? Bonus! They do overplay the Bruce Willis card a bit, but really who can blame them? It's also interesting to note that the trailer features far more of The Rock than it does Channing Tatum, the star of the first film and supposedly this one as well. Is the film more focused on Roadblock than it is on Duke?  These and other questions to be answered next summer, for now enjoy the trailer below and tell us what you think.

@MaroBot  (If that is your real name)

"This is one of the worst things I've ever seen in my life.  Hollywood is officially dead to me." - Me (Mr. Plainview)

Not Hipster'ish at all.  It's cynical.  Please buy a dictionary next time you feel the need to attempt to form a coherent sentence.  Also try to keep your own personal feelings out of the way and pay more attention to actually reading what is typed.  I'm a cynical person who has been worn down by random plot lacking nonsense like this through the years and the Hollywood 3D craze.  This has led me (not the fucking community but me and me alone) to not seeing this as a mindless "summer popcorn" movie but rather utter garbage produced to attempt to con the populous out of their hard earned money.  I say fuck this movie and all like it.  Not because I'm a hipster (which I'm not, but who cares even if I was) but because I'm done giving money to ill-conceived crap like this.  If you like this movie or other like it; then hey more power to you and enjoy it and don't apologize to anyone for liking it.  For me however it looks like utter horseshit and one of the worse movie trailers I've ever seen and I feel that Hollywood is dead to me.  Which is why I chose to use those exact words.  It's called voicing a personal opinion, try looking into it sometime.

Duke died at the start of the trailer didn't he?
It says that they are all dead and 3 people walk away from the massacre.

Semi reboot?

@Darnell_do: The one person I believe people complained about the most was Ripcord...and on a personal note I was disappointed with Snake Eyes (and not just about the rubber lips). Duke was such a throw-away character, that keeping a bigger name like Dennis Quaid around to help sell the film would have made more sense.

And well...meh...bringing back Storm Shadow just...meh, don't care. I personally liked Zartan better. And that was what I was trying to get you to explain, how the sci-fi angle worked in this trailer. Unfortunately, we have NO idea how SS comes back (just that he is) and outside of knowing Zartan is still around, this looks more like The Expendables Vs. Ninja Assassins.

And seriously....BRIGHT YELLOW NINJAS?!?!?!?????

My last word is that Hasbro's Transformers were screwed up royally thanks to Michael Bay and the same happened to G.I.Joe, their one last ray of hope is surprisingly the well made well received excellent show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, that show is so good it makes up for twenty plus years of Hasbro disappointments!

@Grape Soda
What we have here is a miscommunication, in brief what you're telling me is that the Larry Hama G.I.Joe comics were good to an extent and that the movie didn't really stick to '80s Joes. But that's pretty much what I'm saying, we're basically on the same side here.

@Gift of the Magi, I'll question some of the points you made.

1. You don't see any of them die other than Duke, so maybe they weren't there and did anybody really care about the first cast (everyone was missed cast in that movie to me), other than Snake-Eyes? Killing of the main the Joe's  leader, Hawk, is probably gonna be the main reason Bruce Willis's character, 'General Joseph B. Colton, the original G.I. Joe' comes back to avenge his best friends death.

2. The yellow ninja is Jinx (Elodie Yung), Snake-Eyes apprentices and Strom Shadow's cousin, she the girl in red with the blindfold ,the Blind Master is the RZA, and the red cobra ninja is above/behind at 2:02/3 is on the same line as Snake-Eyes and Jinx so what sense would it make for him to cut the line?

3. Arnold Vosloo is reprise his role as Zartan, who is still in disguising as the U.S. president, Storm shadow got stab in the chest/stomach (If that didn't kill him, than freezing waters did), meaning they still have the nanomites and maybe cloning in this film.

All i'm trying to say is either wait for the next trailer witch hopefully will give us more plot, hell the trailer doesn't even show the whole cast, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1583421/fullcredits#cast

Ok Dawnell_do, I herd you...so I'll try herder to make my point.

1.) 'He'? Do you possibly mean Hawk? Ripcord? Breaker? Just the IDEA that they simply FORGOT major cast members INCLUDING THE HEAD OF G.I.JOE ITSELF speaks volumes of stupid.

2.) Um...Dwayne is a bigger star? Maybe more noticed, but the vast majority of his films have been shit of late. The guy is on his way on becoming this generation's Micheal Dudikoff.

3.) Easily explained? What, they had G.I.Joe flags before? If the explanation is easy, it's also likely boneheaded and moronic.

4.) So...if the U.S. calls a UN-sponsored military force 'terrorists', then OF COURSE they will disband them immediately and allow them to be murdered...because you know, the UN is America's little bitch.

5.) Obama came out for ONE terrorist leader, which the US has been hunting for YEARS, NOT A UN PEACE-KEEPING FORCE THEY JUST DECIDED TO UP AND MURDER!!!

6.) Above, not behind (and that one was in front of him if you mean the yellow ninja....oh jeebus, I actually typed YELLOW NINJA!)...and Blind Master of the Cobra Ninjas??? Where the hell did you get that? The woman in red with the blindfold? At what point did SHE (not he) look like a leader?

7.) This I will grant...at least in part. Little history note: Snake Eyes did not start as a ninja. He was originally a commando armed with an Uzi and explosives. The ninja bit started about a year or two after they introduced Stormshadow. However, except for the ill-fated Ninja Force run, the only two real 'ninjas' in G.I.Joe were Snake Eyes and Stormshadow. More shades of Dudikoff here....

8.) G.I.Joe of the 80s' did have SOME sci-fi elements, especially with Cobra...but at least they tried most of the time to make it seem like something that COULD exist at the current tech level. But how does Zartan and Stormshadow being back mean they kept it?

@MaroBot
To be fair the guys saying those things are only speaking for themselves not for the whole community and I only speak for myself when I say it looks obviously bad!  I also don't see how you can tell whether someone's a hipster from the way they post a comment!
