Trailer for 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'

Source: Apple

In 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close', young Oskar (first-time actor Thomas Horn) loses his father (played by Tom Hanks) during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Oskar - a nine year old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist - finds a key in his father's closet which leads him on a hunt across the city. Certain that the mystery will reveal a final message from his father, the journey takes him past his loss to a greater understanding of the world around him. The film will be in theaters December 25th.

This looks like a great movie when it was called "Hugo" which is releasing also on the same year! Seriously both movies have a kid each of their father died of some reason and were left with a mystery for the protagonist to run around and solve...

Tom Hanks in, "Using 9/11 as a plot device and making people feel exploited." But no, this looks ok, but the kid seems a little weird.

I don't know why people complain about 9/11 being referenced in movies set in NY, It happened and it affected millions, and when setting a movie in NY, it's just a natural thing to reference. Some movies will be amazing "United 93", some ok "Reign Over Me", and others just awful "World Trade Center", "Remember Me". This one I'm up in the air on. The trailer makes it look good, and the director is talented, so only time will tell if the end product lives up to the expectations.

I feel exploited watching this.

I'm also laughing because this is one of those where people say " well, I guess it could be good, idontknow.." coulda shoulda woulda, but will it? It will probably decent.

So, it's a Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock film by the guy who did "The Reader", is about a kid trying to keep his family together after 9/11 claimed the life of his father and it comes out in limited release all the way at the end of the year? Man, I bet it's terrible. No, there's no way it's not going to be good. Like everyone else, I'm not crazy about films that are pure Oscar bait, but it always demands so much from the actors and I've been waiting forever for Tom Hanks to be in another Oscar bait film. Man, when this film comes out, "Cast Away", Hanks' last major Oscar bait film will be 11 years old. It's good to finally see Hanks take a break from his comedy roots, - even if he is my favorite comedic actor - and go back to showing why he's also one of my all-time favorite general actors. Of course, I don't know if this really counts, because it's the first Oscar bait film that he's done in 11 years and it involves him dying as part of the development segment, and that's probably the funniest thing involving him that he's done in a while. No, but seriously though, I can't wait to see this.

This looks like it will be a great movie as long as it doesn't turn into oscar-bait. The director has me worried because I never liked The Reader or The Hours because they tried way too hard to appeal to the academy.

I just started reading this book for a class...now I'll be seeing Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock as the parents.  Had no idea it was going to be a movie.
