Boardwalking Empire of the Dead posted a statusAt this point, I don't know how anyone could not be excited for J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek Into Darkness.' The plot sounds fantastic, the stellar cast from the last film is returning, and the villain is played by Benedict Cumberbatch. But in case none of that strikes your fancy, and I have no idea why it wouldn't, today the first poster for the film has been revealed via the movie's official Facebook page. Some have criticized the poster for being too derivative of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' but I really like it. I think it effectively communicates the peril facing the Enterprise crew and the stakes for which they are fighting. It also further enforces the idea that Gary Mitchell will be the villain; seemingly having caused all that destruction himself, possibly with the aid of telekinesis? Take a look at the poster below and let us know what you think.

A film that JJ Abrams said he is not looking to for inspiration. Maybe he isn't, but good god the marketing people are. I mean even the title reminds me of TDKR.
Comment by Le0n Kenedy on December 3, 2012 at 8:17pm I don't see why some people are criticizing the poster only cause its not what they envision it would be it does not mean they have to hate on it. Stop comparing it its not whatever its been compared to this is star trek. I think the poster looks great and it makes me more exited to see this movie.

Comment by SidMeister on December 3, 2012 at 6:54pm This poster looks NOTHING like a Star Trek poster, it looks more like a G.I. Joe or Day After Tomorrow type of poster.

Comment by Dialtribe on December 3, 2012 at 5:57pm Too generic action movie feel for my tastes. When I see this I do not think Star Trek, I think Batman. Star Trek was all about optimism for the future, and I just do not get that feeling from any of the recent Star Trek media.
Comment by Chris-thulu on December 3, 2012 at 5:47pm This is a Star Trek poster?
Comment by Jack68 on December 3, 2012 at 5:30pm The poster sucks because it lacks creativity. Say what you will about Nemesis, but that poster didn't immediately remind you of others. Star Trek has its own feel, its own style. They don't need to rely on movies like TDK for style because quite frankly Star Trek has its own uniqueness.
Comment by son of wolverine on December 3, 2012 at 5:26pm I really liked the first one, i hope this just as good.
