If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Disney has released the trailer for their new installment to the Tron franchise, the television series "Tron: Uprising". The series, set to air in summer of 2012, will take place after the events of the original 'Tron' but before Sam Flynn enters the grid in 'Tron: Legacy'. This is the period of upheaval when Clu, a rogue program obsessed with "perfection", has taken over the grid and Kevin Flynn (Clu's creator) is hidden away in a safe house on the grid.
The main focus of the series is on a character named Beck, voiced by Elijah Wood. Beck leads an uprising against Clu in the grid after being trained by his mentor Tron throughout his time as a game warrior. The creators of the show are promising to take the franchise very seriously so that they can fill in the blanks between the two films in a way that respects the franchise's mythology (and will hopefully show some of the events that were only vaguely alluded to in 'Legacy').
Also lending their talents to the impressive voice cast are Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen, and Bruce Boxleitner, who is returning once again to reprise his character Tron from the first film.
