I have to say, as much as I love the original, I am kind of excited for the 'Robocop' remake. Truth be told, much of it comes from hearing director Jose Padilha talk about his fascinating vision for the new film. Despite the fact that we're still miles and miles from the release of this remake, MGM is wasting no time in starting their viral marketing campaign. Over at a site called Omnicorp.com, this fake ad recently turned up featuring a very familiar combination of letters and numerals. Are we to assume this is in fact what the new ED-209will look like? If so, I like that they've retained much of the design of the original; the alterations in concept aren't sacrilegious if you ask me. Take a look..

In addition, the site has also pieced together this fake commercial promoting all of OmniCorp's various new products...including a veiled glimpse at their most exciting upcoming tech project, the RC 2000, involving a cross between human resources and robotic engineering. Wonder what that could be. Give it a watch below...

Robocop has real potential espechially if they go with a Ghost in the Shell style world, similarly to what Metal Gear Rising is doing now. Thier biggest hurdle is making robocop himself fell more organic moving instead of a slow moving lumbering robo-frankeinstein.

Its very stylised in this image like a car poster - pretty much concept art overlaid on a background. Hope its as scary as the original - when I was a kid, I had to flip channels as ED was suddenly "authorised to use physical force".

Hope it comes out soon

Okay, that OminCorp commercial was pretty clever, and certainly reflected the spirit of Ed Numeier's original RoboCop screenplay. Damn it. I've been resistant to the idea of remaking this movie since first I heard of this project. RoboCop is in my top five favorite movies of all time (for a look at some of the others, visit my spill homepage) and I could not concieve the notion of a remake holding a condle to the original. Seeing that OmniCorp commercial, though... damn...

Wasn't feeling to keen on this film, but if it sticks to it's R-rated roots I'm interested. ED-209 looks damn good and the glimpses of Murphy's new Exoskeleton look  sleek as all get out. Look forward to seeing a trailer  and getting a better idea of the overall look of the film. I echo that I hope practical effects are used in conjunction with cg for this reworked ED-209.

Fingers crossed that they mix in practical effects for this new ED-209 and not do it all in CG... fingers crossed.
