Summertime Entertainment has released the first poster for the animated film 'Dorothy of Oz'. After returning to a tornado-decimated Kansas, Dorothy (voiced by Glee's Lea Michele) and her little dog Toto choose to journey back to Oz - with some help from Glinda the good witch - in order to stop the The Jester (Martin Short) from using the Wicked Witch of the West's wand to turn the people of Oz into puppets. She's joined by her old friends the Scarecrow (Dan Akroyd), the Lion (Jim Belushi) and the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer) as well as some new friends like the talking boat Tugg (Patrick Stewart) and Wiser the Owl (Oliver Platt). Along the way, Dorothy and her companions will face dangerous mazes, a hungry dragon and even a spell that can destroy the Yellow Brick Road itself.

One of a handful of upcoming 'Oz' projects, 'Dorothy of Oz' doesn't yet have a release date, but is expected in theaters sometime around May of 2012.

That Jester's face looks pretty lame. I hope it looks better in motion.

There is a wealth of stories to gather ideas together for this series.  My only issue is that most people will expect a technicolor-musical with each installment.  Also, how faithful will the material be to the source is at question.  I do hope that they take certain liberties [translation: don't make another Return to Oz].  Loved SyFy's treatment of the material and can't wait to see what will happen with this, too.
