FF 2011 Day One: 'Human Centipede 2' and more!

Cyrus and fellow LEOG member Brian Salisbury take a brief moment to recap a few films from the first day of Fantastic Fest 2011 including 'Let the Bullets Fly', 'Haunters', the stomach-turning 'Human Centipede 2' and more:

And, as an added bonus, here is video from the opening ceremonies in which festival founder Tim League introduces a kinder, friendlier festival with a little help from a celebrity friend:

To be clear... I liked the experience of the movie... not the movie itself. Free beer, good friends, Elijah Wood doing the puppet master and because of me there was a deal on chilli fries. It was a cool night. The experience was fun... I had a different experience than all of you who most likely saw the movie at home.

Bryan, Montreal has to sublime "Fantasia Fest" that goes on for something like 3 weeks, that's often brought up in terms as a sister fest of sorts to Fantastic Fest in Austin.

There can be only one.

Honestly though, you can have the last name, I'll stick with Nate.

I was really looking forward to what Cyrus thought about Let the Bullets Fly, but he touched on it so quickly...

It's like you sew a mouth to an asshole and that's all anyone wants to talk about.

So now Hollywood has become so intellectually bankrupt, that theyre trolling movie festivals for good ORIGINAL foreign movies to buy up. This is so...fucking...sad

Pitbull took the words right out of my mouth about human centipede.  That single movie is internet famous, and in those bowels it will stay.  There's a lot smarter ways to bring a shock factor, human centipede is just juvenile.

By the way, on the subject of Human Centipede, I default to Bill Hicks on movies:

Speaking of beers, just got the first of Michigan Brewing Company's fall pumpkin ale. Shit is fantastic, only thing that is on par is Dog Fish Head. If you live in MI, you should find it.
