Overview: No longer "The Rock" thank god, Dwayne Johnson has been doing complete crap, and silly stuff for the past three years. With that being said I think this is the type of films that he needs to be in more often, kickass action films. I was neglectful to see this after seeing the trailer. I thought "It's just another revenge movie and looks dumb and mindless", yes it's dumb and mindless, but it's mindless action that has some leverage to it, and for that it's not too bad.

Plot: The basic revenge story is played out here. A former convict, and driver's brother is murdered, and goes out to avenge his death. This is the type of thing that's been done a million times before. In here it's done adequately. not the best, because with what it's worth it is in of it's self a film noir. The writers knew this was an action film, but wanted to add some thematic elements. for that it's done enough to a point.

Acting: With a cast like Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, and Maggie Grace I don't expect too much. It's been said by many, even The Spill Crew Dwayne Johnson is a Terminator in this. He gets shot many times but just flinches. It would've made my day if Johnson's face got scraped up and the endoskeleton of the Terminator. He's alright when he speaks his lines he's very much another Arnold, but without the charm, but he does have to show emotion, and depth which brings out the Dwayne Johnson we've never seen. Billy Bob Thornton is alright at best. He works good for his character, Maggie Grace is good in everything she's in "Lost", "Taken", and she does fine in this, and she's fine herself. Also I want to mention another Lostie Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, yes he was Mr. Eko. He was ok, but he was the weak point of the film when he was in it. For a film like this I don't expect Oscar calabor acting, but for the film it's trying to be it's well played.

Direction: I haven't heard of George Tillman Jr.before this, but i have seen his movies like "Men Of Honor", and "Notorious", both are generally ok movies. I like "Men of Honor" better though. It's clear he was heavily influenced by 70's exploitation films. His direction is well with the action scenes. I just want to know if he was the one who came up the name "Faster" that's a horrible title. I supposed you can make it as a metaphor for the character of Driver, but in both ways it's not a great title, but anyway he did a fine job with this film.

Visuals: This is an action film. I saw blood, and guns, knives, crazy stunts. It was awesome in terms of action. At times though the blood looks CG, which is ridiculous. Other than some crazy over the top scenes, they were awesome. It feels like what "The Expendables" should have been, and that's with one action star let alone nine of them. Awesome, ridiculous, action noir is my cup of tea.

Overall: There's a lot of problems, which is very common for films like this. Despite the many problems that are obvious, this is a fun film. I'm suprised, because I'm very bitter when comes to movies that make me feel dumb and just shows be shiny things that blow up, but this is'nt that. I enjoyed it a lot. I went with two of my friends who love action movies,but are into other movies too we share the same taste in film, and they walked out liking it for what it is. i do to it's action film with some dumb things int here, but it works and i liked it. For that I give it 3 stars out of 5.

Now would I recommend it. Yes, if you want an epic action film. If your a person who obviously is a dumbass looking for a movie that has sub par acting, a great story and a lot of plot elements, that makes you question your self being when it's over than you are looking at the wrong movie here.
