Farrelly Bros. to make 'Three Stooges', Grant to do the casting

A vaudeville and later film act from the 20's till the late 60's, 'The Three Stooges' are among the greatest comedy acts of all time.

So, with Variety reporting the Farrelly brothers (Peter and Bobby) making a 'Three Stooges' film I thought I'd put in my unwanted 2 cents on who should play the stooges...

Larry:
Larry Fine, known for his trademark wild bushy red hair looks just like one of the greatest comedians of our generation, Louis C.K. so he was an easy first pick.

Curly:
Ironically named Curly Howard, the high-pitched voiced baldy with the intense eyes, just fits Jack Black. Although I hated the Black and Farrelly Brothers team-up on Shallow Hal, I couldn't think of anyone else who would work so well.

Shemp:
One of the original three stooges (replaced by brother Curly), Shemp Howard looked older than the others, disheveled and weathered with age, but since Jack Palance is deceased I had to go with Benicio del Toro. Originally the Farrellys' pick for Moe, I feel he is too old but could pull off his older brother Shemp greatly.

Moe:
Leader of the pack, Moe Howard was notorious for his chili bowl cut. While it may be tempting to pick Jim Carrey solely based on his Lloyd Christmas role in 'Dumb and Dumber' and its resemblance, I would have to pick Steve Carell.

What do ya'' think? Are my picks horrible? Who would you pick?

How about they just not make a three stooges movie?

Wow, Jim Broadbent does look perfect. I wonder if it will be more of a biopic of their lives on and off the stage rather than a straight up new 'Three Stooges' film. I'm sure the former would make much more sense, but with the Farrelly Bros. who knows?

Louis C.K. just doesn't come off as slapstick enough, or really at all, to make a three stooges role viable. If it was a documentary about the actors, I could see it, but as a stooge himself, not so much. He's just too straight to pull that kind of role off. Now, I know he's English, and might be a bit old, but tell me Jim Broadbent is not more the splitting image.

He's even got the experience with kind of slapsticky/bumbling comic relief level roles in "The Borrowers" and "Hot Fuzz"

actually John C. Reilly could be a good Larry, not to say he would do better then Louis C.K.

While I agree RDJr. could be a great Moe, I feel he may be over-saturating himself in the mainstream media right now and he just starred with Jack Black (my pick for Curly) in Tropic Thunder so I wanted to steer clear of that association.

you could have Robert Downey Jr. As Moe, but good choices over all
