Vitriowl joined Adam Collins's groupThe 85th Academy Awards is right around the corner. No matter how you may feel about the ceremony itself, or the validity of the movies deemed to be the yearly "best," it cannot be denied that the Oscars represents a staggering legacy of cinema. To pay tribute to this legacy, artist Olly Moss has created an elaborate poster featuring a different statuette for each of the Best Picture winners. The creativity and attention to detail employed here is amazing. It's almost its own game, see if you can identify the movie by its award. Click on the poster for a larger image and the ability to zoom in on the individual statues.

Comment by Mst3kFan on February 13, 2013 at 3:55pm Not sure that a brain would have worked. The emptiness is supposed to represent the hallucinations that plagued Russell Crowe's character all throughout "A Beautiful Mind". It's almost like we're supposed to question whether the Oscar is really there or not.
If I were to pick my favorites, they'd be the ones using a hobbit to represent "Return of the King" (2003), the little girl in the red coat for "Schindler's List" (1993) and the man with the spaghetti on the tennis racket for "The Apartment" (1960). Man, do I want to watch those scenes of Jack Lemmon cooking all over again.
Comment by MahMahAfro on February 13, 2013 at 3:40pm Tryin to figure out which of these is which just reminds me how little I've paid attention to the Oscars over the years - the ones I could get were funny though, and it's a great idea.
Not sure why A Beautiful Mind is just an empty space though.... couldn't they have an Oscar with a brain?
Comment by Thomas Christopher White on February 13, 2013 at 10:45am I love the 2007 statue.. it's Javier Bardem's character from No country for Old men, 1982 statue is Ghandi, cool concept for 2008 who wants to be a millionaire for Slum Dog as well as 2009 wearing a bomb suit from the Hurt Locker, also love the 1989 Driving Miss Daisy statue, 1989 statue of The Platoon is bad ass, 1972 and 74 The God Father 1 and 2, 1981's Chariots of fire, 2004's Million Dollar baby, 1997 I didn't get at first until I realized the statue wasn't flying, it's the nose of a ship... it's Titanic, 78's The Deer Hunter, the 1994 statue's my favorite... Forest Gump just chillin'

Comment by Mst3kFan on February 12, 2013 at 11:22pm Damn, I recognize all of these, and I must say that I'm blown away.
Seriously though, compared to the rather generic poster of Seth McFarlane just holding an Academy Award, this is positively breathtaking.
Comment by Philly Made Punk on February 12, 2013 at 11:06pm This Poster is Awesome!
I know every Best Picture winner since 1950 and their all good.
The little red-coat girl from Schindler's List is perfect and The Godfather 1 & 2 is great with the cat in Part I.
The statue for A Beautiful Mind makes me want to see the movie now.
The Return of the King should of been Gollum or Sauron since its my favorite Best Picture Winner
