Hello fellow expressionist and this is a special Express Yourself blog on the grounds on Memorial Day or in this case what it miens to me. now the reason why I am touching on this subject is that I’ve been doing some thinking as well as talking with some of my friends about the thing the was going to do over this memorial day weekend. Some of my friends had told me that they will spin time with their girlfriends. Others will be at a barber Q with families and friends. but one of my friend who I had known for some time had told me something that have got me thinking long and hard about the holiday as well as my knowledge of what it really mean.

      When I ask him what his plains was for the holiday week. A weekend I sadly had to admit I’d had forgotten about Intel a family member had reminded me about it; (will talk about it later). Yet I had ask him what his plain was and respond rater said when was going hung out with his former Amy buddy and remember all of the friends they have lost doing the war they have forth a long time ago. When he said this he had his head down and had a sound of bitterness when told me what his plains was for Monday. It was at that point where I told him, “okay,” and he switch the subject in a way that make it seem the question was never even ask. I was not angry that he had done that in fact I was mad at myself for not taken Memorial Day to hart.

     When it come to holidays now a days I really don’t celebrated as much as I use to. In mine opinion most of these them had been taken over by throws who want to make money off them. As I gotten older my feeling towards these holidays had change. Now when I often celebrate holidays it’s for more of family values as well as given think that most of my love ones and friends are still with me in this earth. That and the fact I myself am still alive to be with them. However other holidays I just completely forgotten about them of choose not to celebrate it on the court they really do not hold any true value to me to celebrate it. However forgetting Memorial is something that is just unacceptable. And yes I am ashamed that I had all but completely blinked it out of my mine. Many men and women have given their lives for the freedom we too often take for granted. And yet to forget about a holiday that was made for them to remember the great services they had decorated to this country is just wrong, and for that I really sorry to both to the veterans who are members on this site and to the ones who are just reading this blog.

     This was on my mine of a whole week and it got me thinking as what dose Memorial Day really means to me. Well I can tell you what our brave men and women whose means to me and that is I have a great deal of respect to them. No words to tell what they are giving up in order to keep use safe; to keep America alive. They’ve sacrifice a lot for this country; both mentally and physically. And the fact them many of them come back broke, homeless and even forgotten is something I can never understand. I will also never understand why people felt the need to protest solder’s funerals or treat them as nothing more then outcast for they roll in the battle field. Let me go on in saying that yes what our brave men and women do is not pretty. And yes so of them do go on the deep end. But I am not including everyone who is serving in the war, and although no one want wars, nether dose our troops. They want to be with their love one as well be can’t because they have to serve.

    When Bush declared war on Iraq I was dead set against it. And yet I did not turn on our U.S troops because they had no say on the matter. So knowing that, I will always support them. And that weather or not I agree with the war there are in.

    So that what Memorial day or in this case what our troop of the pass and now mines means to me it’s more than just going to cook outs and heading to the movie. It’s remembering and given thanks to throws’ who give their lives for the freedom we now have. It is word I myself needs to remember form this point on form it come to this very special holiday.
