gambolingman posted a statusSo here we have another trailer appetizer, this time for Fede Alvarez's remake of Sam Raimi's 'The Evil Dead.' The buzz on the movie, based on the footage shown at NYCC, has been pretty positive, but if this trailer tease is any indication, the filmmakers are still very nervous about treading on such sacred ground. The teaser shows footage of audiences reacting favorably to the footage, so you know "horror fans dig it," and it also has a quick quip in which Alvarez not-so-subtly reminds every that Raimi asked him to do the remake so "what choice did he have?" It's a cute approach, but I'll wait until the actual trailer hits to make any kind of judgement as to my own anticipation level. Take a look at the trailer teaser below and tell us what you think. The trailer is due to hit tomorrow.
'Evil Dead' hits theaters 4/12/2013

Comment by Billy Xan on October 25, 2012 at 2:34pm I hope Bruce has a cameo in the film. Its nice to see that he is not complaining about the remake hurting the originals or saying that they should have made a 4th evil dead instead. He is too old to play Ash now anyway and after years of rumors it was finally time to let the 4th movie die (no pun intended). If they were ever serious about the 4th movie then it would have been made already especially after Sam Ramii made it big with Spiderman. I am weary about this remake but will give it the benefit of the doubt depending of the reviews. Also what is it with horror movies releasing in the spring time. They should be realeasing in October. I know Saw had a huge share and now Paranormal Activitiy rules the halloween box office but seriously we need more scary movies in October than the spring.
Comment by Jormungandr on October 24, 2012 at 3:02pm BTW some of these "true fans" cant even spell Bruce Campbell's name correctly?
Comment by Hayley Fischer the Brony on October 24, 2012 at 1:41pm I saw the trailer, and I am having mixed feelings already. Okay, so there is gore and blood, and yes, sometimes it looks insane, but where's the heart that it had in the original Evil Dead movies?

Comment by Aaron Lee Lozano on October 24, 2012 at 12:21pm Fuck this, and even though it kind of hurts me to say it, Fuck you Bruce Camble. I know that this is probably going to be a stupid simple horror film that was cool in the early 80's, but bullshit now. Can't someone make an original horror film (Like Cabin In the Woods), and Bruce Camble is probably just promoting the movie because he is milking as much money from this franchise as he can.

That's a phone cam or handheld at a con, so good luck finding and HD of the trailer until the studio releases it. Which yeah could be tomorrow.
In the con trailer: did you guys see the rape tree? Wow ballsy move keeping that thing.

Jormungandr, I watch the trilogy quite alot and usually with the funny commentary tracks on, which is why even watching Evil Dead 1 is a funny experience. And what you write is correct except it not being great, although I'll agree with you about the acting. It had great pacing, effective SFX and what made it weirder was the use of "stand-ins/shemps" that just made the jump in makeup continuity kind of freaky. But I will grant you, without the DVDs' informative and hilarious commentary tracks, I would probably only watch the movies once a year in October (gots to have my horror movies leading to Halloween).
