Yes, the Condemned games did have some pretty good controls and did have plenty of intense moments, sort of forcing to using weapons that aren't guns, sure you can use guns but the ammo on them were short to none and don't always provide you the edge necessary to get the job done--nothing a good old two-by-four couldn't fix.
The slight problem I had with the games was that I found some parts a bit repetitive.

The Condemned games both have tight controls and scare the absolute shit of you. The mall in the first game and the cabin in the woods in the second are perfect examples of Nightmare Fuel Unleaded.
Very good podcast you guys. Also, meatloaf.
