Satoshi posted a statusFull disclosure: I have not watched this new super trailer for 'The Amazing Spider-Man.' Call me paranoid, but the concept of a four-minute trailer seems far too spoiler-inherent for my taste. I just don't want to be privy to that much information before I walk into the theater. But, as I've said many times, I understand that not everyone has the same trailer proclivities as I do, and I am not about to deprive you guys of this mammoth sneak peek at Marc Webb's Spidey reboot. In fact, you can help me out here. Take a look at the trailer below and let me know in the comment section if you found it to be too spoilery. If the overwhelming consensus is that there's still plenty left unseen, maybe I'll give it a shot.

I've always been a MEGA Spider-Man nerd. It was the second comic book I ever read and I've been reading it since I was 7, not to mention - being a fellow tinkerer named Peter - he was something of a role model as I was growing up. I'm also a really gigantic Captain America fan (loved Avengers, but as soon as Whedon signed on I knew it was in good hands) and a huge Batman fan. But, this film is my most anticipated because a) Nolan is probably going to do another great job with TDKR so I'm not worried, b) I'm going to see TDKR no matter what because it's a threequel, and c) Spider-Man hasn't ever really had "that film" where they nailed the character perfectly. Everything that I've seen so far makes me think that this might be the film I've been waiting to see since I was 7. So... yeah. Most anticipated by a long shot.
@Logan - They've often toyed with the whole concept of "maybe it's not just that he's lucky, maybe it's that NO ONE else could have been Spider-Man but Peter Parker" sort of thing in the comics. A lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that his father experimented on him or something (like they tried to do in the Eric Bana Hulk film), but I think that line is supposed to be more of a "do you realize just how much research and how many millions of dollars and how much we put into working to create something like you?" line. More of a "OsCorp is actively trying to create some kind of metahuman" line and less of a "you were oooowoooowoooo meant to be Spider-Man all alooooong!" kind of thing. Either way, we'll have to wait and see how they tackle the material and whether it turns out like Iron Man (yay) or Green Lantern (booo).
Comment by Jordan Hoffman on May 17, 2012 at 12:59am Fungus Monkey found the freakin' Lizard's labcoat. That on top of any hype he already had for the movie makes it being his movie of 2012 makes it completely understandable.
Hell, even if the movie isn't up to par with the Raimi films (which I personally doubt it's going to be) there's probably some emotional significance now, since FungusMonkey essentially helped promote the friggen movie/has LIZARD'S LABCOAT. And I think that's awesome.

You're looking forward to this more than The Dark Knight Rises?
Wow. I thought you were more of a Batman guy than a Spiderman guy.
Comment by Logan Deckard on May 16, 2012 at 11:22pm @Fungusmonkey Are you worried at all about all the whole "you think what happened to you was an accident Peter?" destiny stuff they seem to be inserting into the new origin story. I've heard a lot of hardcore Spiderman fans argue that part of what made Spiderman great was the fact that Parker was just your average nerd that happened to be in the wrong place in the wrong time. I don't agree with that being a deal-breaker, but I'm curious to hear your opinion Peter.

@Professor Paradox - That Sony wants to dominate the 4th of July weekend box office? It worked pretty well for Terminator 2, Men in Black, Transformers, Spider-Man 2...
(and yes, this is my most anticipated movie of the summer so... yeah.)
