Once upon a time, I didn’t have a Facebook account or gotten into it…….until December 26, 2010 and then I got into it a little and then a lot and most people I know barely said anything to me since. But what does this got to do with The Social Network?
Well, like most people, they thought this movie was going to be stupid and mostly lame. It’s a movie about Facebook, what did you expect? I heard the movie is directed by David Fincher and the screenplay written by Aaron Sorkin and I was skeptical at first about but let’s just get into this.
It all begins with Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenburg) chatting with his girlfriend Erica Albright (Rooney Mara aka the future English version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and as it turns out Zuckerberg is a dick. He is mostly a mix between nerd and asshole and so Erica dumps his ass. So what does he do? He goes to his computer and bitches about her and shares it throughout the web and suddenly, that night changed him forever.
Then came along his friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield, the next Spider-Man) and approaches him the idea of a new social network that is exclusive to Harvard University. He also came across Brothers Cameron & Tyler Winklevoss (Armie Hammer doing both parts & body double for Tyler, Josh Pence), who I swear has the most generic rich, snooty people name I ever heard, but they got screwed on that deal and sued Mark for stealing the idea but that failed. Also founder of Napster, Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) is very interested in the idea of Facebook although Eduardo is dangerously skeptical about him and the rest…….I can’t spoil it for you. That or you already saw it and already knows what happens.
I understand that part of women in the movie are either played in the background as the girls you are mostly there just to be the sexy forbidden fruit, then it happened vice versa, so that is the least of my problems. But Rashida Jones, who played the lawyer representing Zuckerberg in the meeting, gave a good performance in the movie. She’s mostly in the background.
Oh yeah, and Brenda Song, who played Christy Lee, Eduardo’s crazy-ass girlfriend, is good, too, but not used in it that much. Also, in my opinion, she’s the only person from the Disney Channel who doesn’t get overexposed and doesn't annoy me that much. Hopefully, she gets more roles like this, albeit, she had a small role. Really, I’m serious. I want her to get more roles in good movies.
Final opinion:
I really liked this movie. This is not what I expected from a movie about Facebook. The acting, the direction, and the screenplay are top-notch and also impressive. Most characters in there are, in fact, douches, but douches you can tolerate with. The score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross is very dark and ominous with the electronica twinge into it, but it’s not my
favorite score. It’s good but scores from 2010 movies were very noticed from Hans Zimmer’s score of Inception to Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy and that one was….good enough but not the best.
MY SCORE:
9/10

Okay, I’m done with that.
‘til then, I’m MAK2.0 (aka HybridMedia), bringing all the elements in one network.
