EMZreviews joined Donwun's groupOrson Scott Card's novel 'Ender's Game' is currently being adapted for the big screen by Summit Entertainment. The film will star Asa Butterfield ('Hugo') as a young boy in a futuristic society in which children are trained for battle at an early age. The ultimate goal is to defeat an alien insect race known as the Formics. The film, directed by Gavin Hood ('X-Men Origins: Wolverine') will also star Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Abigail Breslin, and Hailee Steinfeld. Today, the film's official Twitter account revealed this teaser poster. The tagline, I believe, refers to an intense training game the young cadets play in the Battle Room. Overall, I'm not wild about the poster, but then again it's obviously that far better posters will be unveiled once we get closer to the film's 2013 release date. Take a look at the teaser poster below and let us know what you think.

Comment by The Tourist on May 23, 2012 at 1:04pm No one will think this copied the Hunger Games because its really nothing like it beyond the initial premise of kids in combat. They're child soldiers here, not gladiators on reality TV. And when it comes down to the actual war, the focus is far more on strategy and less on combat.
I really don't see the movie turning out good though. Just can't picture anybody pulling this off..
Comment by The Dubya on May 23, 2012 at 10:26am I GUARANTEE ya'll that this will be Gavin Hood's redemption and everyone is going to act all shocked and surprised when this movie ends up being really good. I mean the guy isn't Uwe Boll; he's made some pretty good films before Wolverine, and there were PLENTY of more hands to fuck up that project before he got there. As the crew suggested in the review, it was probably a case where Hugh Jackman and FOX and everyone else that had more power than him pushing the guy around and Hood was essentially reduced to a director-for-hire (let's keep in mind that he didn't write Wolverine either, a move that was rushed during the Writer's Strike). Hood WANTED to bring in some of the political undertones that he had in his previous movies, but when you watch the movie it plays out like your typical bad summer movie schlock plagued with way too many people that don't know what they're doing messing with shit.
The best thing going for Hood and Ender's Game is that it's not being produced by Fox, so the bullshit politics should be significantly decreased. The ballin' cast they have so far doesn't hurt either...
As for the poster...as FungusMonkey pointed out, non-fans of Ender's Game like me are gonna go "...okay?" But I kind of felt the same way at the mid-credits reveal of The Avengers, where I swear folks in our theater had instant orgasms the second he turned around. Who knows, maybe that' what Ender's Game diehards are doing now. At least it isn't some generic slapped together Brooding McBrooder poster. So...I can dig it. It's doing it's job by teasing the fans.
Comment by Frankcastle on May 23, 2012 at 7:51am Is it just me, or is that script at the top of the poster evocative of Rapture?
