Elijah Wood Kills In First Images From 'Maniac'
As a fan of William Lustig's incredible 1980 film 'Maniac' starring the wholly unsettling Joe Spinell, I was more than a bit astonished when it was announced that the film was to be remade. More astonishing still was the news that Elijah Wood (yes, Frodo himself) would be stepping into the role of the lead maniac. Don't get me wrong, I loved him as the supervillain-esque killer Kevin in 'Sin City,' but I feel he benefited from the visual effects quite a bit. The thought of seeing the guy play a psycho in street clothes just didn't gel. I won't say these new set images have completely changed my mind, but they are a definite step in the right direction. Wood doesn't seem to simply be killing 'Piranha 3D's Genevieve Alexandra, but rather handing down Old-Testament-like wrath upon her with that knife. North. Is. Pissed.
