Nathan Dewey posted a blog postAll good things come in foursomes, and we've had some ups...and a fuck load of downs thoughout our indever though Summer 2010 so far. So lets see if we can if we can turn that upside down up entering the fourth and final stage...AUGUST!
All other parts to read first:
August 6th
The Other Guys

I've always had a soft spot for Will Ferrell, I love Anchorman and Talladega Nights, heck I even enjoy Semi-Pro and Step Brothers. So I'm not ashamed to say I'm looking forward to The Other Guys. It has a good solid cast, a pretty cool if slightly predictable premise. The trailer seems pretty hit and miss, which has me slightly worried, but I had that feeling with Step Brothers and I was suprised how much I enjoyed it, so lets see if this has the same trick up it's sleeve.
Prediction: (High) MATINEE!
Step Up 3-D

Did the world REALLY need a Step-Up 3-D. Shameful thing is, it will make a ton of money, and it will be just as predictable as the rest.
Prediction: SOME OLE BULLS**T
August 13th
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Hell yeah this looks epic, if there was a film to challenge my new found love of a certain Comic-Book movie that is extremly Kick Ass (nudge nudge, wink wink) it's this one. A film that really captures what's going on inside a nerds mind. Get an awesome director (Edgar Wright) get him to do the impossible (make Micheal Cera seem badass) and prepare for the most outright "out there" fight scenes ever created by man.
Prediction: FULL PRICE!!!
The Expendables

Can you not feel how badass this is going to be, the only thing that has me worried is that the studio haven't decided yet on which cut they are willing to put in to theatre's, the Hard R one, or the Softcore PG-13 one. Look at the poster and tell me which rating is better suited for this film. Yeah that's right.
Prediction: FULL PRICE!!!/ (Low) MATINEE! It all depends on the rating
EAT, PRAY, LOVE

I have a pair of testicles, as cruel as it sounds, I don't think I'll be needing to see this one.
Prediction: RENTAL
August 20th
Takers

This looks so bland, so unintresting, it just seems like such a waste of time just going to watch it. Like just look how heavely that poster has been photoshopped. Supposivly this film has been swinging around for a release since 2008, so don't be shocked if it moves from this space again.
Prediction: SOME OLE BULLS**T
The Switch

This film has a very funny idea that could have some great gags, but this sounds very very disturbing, it's all most completly off-putting the whole premise sounds. A guy loses so sperm to get Jennifer Aniston pregnent so he has to give it himself. Not the most charming of idea's.
Prediction: (Low) MATINEE!
Lottery Ticket

Oh god, I'm getting Norbit flashbacks. We've seen this done before, and we've seen it funnier. This will not be worth the effort of paying for a ticket for it.
Prediction: SOME OLE BULLS**T
August 27th
Piranha 3-D

Sorry, The next two films didn't have posters.
This seems like a lot of campy fun, it's going to be bad, it's going to be fun. Like have you not seen the levels of gore and nudity that's going to be in this, it's going to be one of the silliest films this year. But I guess that's the point, if it's going to be in 3-D, make it completly stupid.
Prediction: MATINEE!
The Last Exorcism

Being tipped as the next Paranormal Activity (which I thought was bad enough already), this Eli Roth produced flick is about a Priest inviting a camera crew to film his exorcing a lady who his possesed by the devil. Well what can I say, have there not been enough Exocism films already. I think the film style could benifit this a tad, but it won't be anything fantastic.
Prediction: (Low) RENTAL
And that is the end of the summer predictions, if I was to be honest with you, I was kind of let down by the films there is to offer this summer, for all these great films, there seems to be a wild storm of horrible ones following wake.
Yet when you see the good stuff, you see instant classics, ones to stay around for years.
Thanks for reading these, and check back to see if I was right with my predictions!
