Edward Norton Will Not Appear In Future Marvel Films

Source: HitFix

As most of you probably saw over the weekend, HitFix reported that Marvel parted ways with Edward Norton in terms of his involvement with the character Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk and the upcoming superhero spectacular The Avengers. Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment will cast a new actor in the role.

After Marvel and Norton failed to reach a deal despite the actor's enthusiasm to work alongside Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and others on the 2012 tentpole, things started to get ugly when the studio, and production guru Kevin Feige in particular, cited "the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members" as the principle reason for his exclusion. Norton's talent agent, Brian Swardstrom of WME, then fired back with a scathing response that called Feige out. Since then, speculation has run rampant regarding who will portray the Mean Greenie in The Avengers.

All now patiently wait for Saturday at Comic-Con, when Joss Whedon is supposedly going to introduce his entire cast for the The Avengers and then we'll finally know who will be the third actor to play Banner on film.

Marvel is now really making me lose faith in them. They had a brilliant start a couple of years ago but now all the cracks in their foundation seem to be appearing. I don't know who's ultimately responsible or if it is even just one root cause/person rather than a systemic problem but if it is a person then that asshole seriously needs to get his or her ass kicked.

alright i read this entire article and the blame should be on marvel. according to nortons talent agent they had plenty of civilized conversations and good meetings, and norton well really excited to be in it and they were completely baffled as why he wasnt cast but they were fine with it until kevin feige said his bullshit. so if your going to blame anyone blame marvel. mark this onto the long list of mistakes marvel has made recently

Truthfully I feel like people are only getting mad because they see a big company not wanting one actor and they think it is the companies fault. I'm really surprised because edward wasn't even that great as Bruce Banner he was ok but not like he made the character his own. People are over reacting because this is just another actor he wants to get paid alot for a movie that wasn't even that good and a company who is cautious about who their fucking giving millions to. I don't care if they have millions or billions that is there money and they want to spend it how ever they want to. Who ever said that they are being cheap and don't want quality actors umm.... their are plenty good actors who will be gladly to play Edwards role for the money that he obviously to good for.

i put the blame on Norton side of the fence even though he is one of my top ten favorite actors. he basically got pissed because they didn't take his creative ideas serious enough to put in the incredible hulk movie. who the hell cares? you were hired to act not to produce or direct so just do what people tell u and collect your check at the end of the month that way if it goes sour you wont be held responsible and if its a success you will automatically be commended for your work. people make their life unnecessarily difficult. you know what he would be probably be paid and plus more chances for hulk and avenger sequels i mean obviously this guy has enough to deny the role. i say fuck him and bring in Adrien Brody. and honestly when was the last time you heard anything about Norton since this

@fungusmonkey You talk about how Marvel doesn't want to pay up for quality actors truth is Brolin did a shitty job in Jonah hex Catwoman was shit even though Halle berry was hot as hell and they are both great actors the fact is that its not only the actors that can make or break a movie. its an offer and an actor can choose to accept or deny the role if they want that's not marvels fault.

For instance how much screen time did RDJ have out of that suite in the movie maybe 25 min at most. These people are behinds mask or transform into something else (ie Hulk) as a studio i wouldn't want to pay top buck for a face thats gonna get covered or wont be on screen for half the time. The move to get rid of Terrance Howard was needed that prick wanted so much money for smiling at the camera come now.

@Jortz holy hell i never thought of Brody as Banner now i wanna see it happen. they will have to flatten out that nose of his for the transformation though.
