That was the recording for the replay mode (where you could go back and watch the footage, edit it and make your own little driving video), when it said it was "Out of Tape" that meant that the game had stopped recording your game play.

Just beat the game yesterday... Overall it was alright. There were some pretty awesome missions where you drive the higher end cars like the Lambo Murcielago or the Pagani Zonda. Controls are decent and somewhat reflect their car's real world counterparts, as far as an arcade racer goes. The Music is pretty good as well... The Diplo version of Marlena Shaw's California Soul is awesome and on constant repeat on my ipod.

 

However, once you get somewhat decent at shifting to other cars to take down your opponents it quickly becomes a grind. I started to feel this way about the game about 4 hours in. But overall there were a lot of fun elements to keep you going to the end. Especially when you can afford the better cars. Overall I'd say wait to buy it on discount or if you've got money to burn in the meantime before the real big games start coming out at the end of the year I'd say try it out.

first and 2nd driver was geared more to the 70s and Steve McQueen, 3rd one was more like the movie Ronin just from the soundtrack and location, *cough* Nice *cough* anyway just putting it out there :P

am I the only one who thinks driver 4 was actually pretty cool? & driver 3 was a gta clone, but driver 1 paved the way for gta3.

Never got into the first, and the 2nd and 3rd just seemed to be GTA knockoffs. San Francisco seems to be doing enough different that'll I'll be checking it out.
