We hate to report things like this on April 1st, because even though it's true (and even though we here at Spill have a very strict rule against the typical 'April Fools' shenanigans), there will undoubtedly be people who think it's a hoax. Marvel announced last night that while fan-favorite Shane Black will be directing 'Iron Man 3', they have hired British writer Drew Pearce to pen the script. Now, before everyone's panties and/or knickers start to twist, they made sure to include that Pearce would be working with Black on the story. So, while he may not be doing the heavy lifting on the script, it sounds like Black is still going to have a lot of creative input on how the film is handled.

Pearce, who scratched his way onto Marvel's hotlist via writing for the hilarious UK superhero TV series 'No Heroics', is no stranger to the hero genre and the dealing with superhero issues in a relatable and very human way. His recent script work on the film adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn's 'Runaways' comic series no doubt played a role in Marvel tapping him for what is arguably their hottest franchise. 'Iron Man 3' is slated for release on May 3rd, 2013.

Always hated Iron Man, always will, Marvel's Douchest character (but played by a cool actor). And after the last movie, well, can it really get any worse?

@ BallZac$

That's why they use the qualifier "typical". Have a fake friendship meltdown on a podcast isn't typical.

@Bert's Unibrow

I REALLY don't mean to split hairs like this but I thought Shandling played a Republican conservative senator, interested in aquiring a multi-billion dollar weapon system for the military liberal Democrats really don't care much for weapons or war!

Oh yeah this is completely offtopic but the new 4 minute long green lantern trailer just got release.

The only thing I disliked about IM2 was the goofy fight between friends. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable film.

I LOVED Garry Shandling as the douchy liberal senator, and I thought Sam Rockwell was great. I don't get the ratcheted-up hatred for this movie.

@ Bagface. If you read the comic thoroughly Stark is totally an actual dick like he was in IM2. Especially when they deal with his heavy drinking problem which the studio heads didn't want to touch on if they wanted to stay family friendly.
