Dragonball Evolution - Yeah it involed into something alright.

Being a huge DBZ fan i was looking forward to this movie, alough i had my doubts about the various plot holes and that it was an ADAPTATION of the brilliant manga that i used to watch 24/7 - also the fact that everyone had written this film off before it was even realsed, and i think that damaged DBE before it even hit the big screen.

However having just watched the film i feel somewhat disapointed in what should have been a fantasic action movie with at least some mind blowing fight scenes, and what i witnessed was something out of a Angel / Buffy action scenes with a few DBZ moves thrown in, that looked so tackey even the most open minded DB fan would have burst a blood vessel while watching this movie.

Now dont get me wrong it isnt as bad as id thought it would be but it is bad. Alough i found most of the storyline element dissapointing i did think that Justin Chatwin did a good job as playing goku, even Chow yun fat did his best as Master Roshi, but the rest of the cast were in a word, crap. "Lord" piccolio played by james masters never rearly convinced me he was an evil bad ass, simply because he just turns up "free" of his so called prison, throws a few energy balls around kills Grampa gohan and then fights master roshi and goku in the space of 5 mins at the end of the film.

BUT the huge problem with this film is that "OZARU" is piccolio's partner? WTF? - and then goku turns into him at the end as piccolio says you are OZARU, erm hello? - only sayians can transform into giant apes, with the help of direct moonlight and they have to have a TAIL!. None of witch was mentioned in the story other than the fact that goku is "different, special". it would have been better if piccolio went giant and we had a massive energy fight between him and master roshi. But no, it was simply a very poor attempt at a dragonball movie. Yes there was some parts of the film i did enjoy, where goku makes a mockery out of the guys given him some crap at school, (that acutally made me laugh). The saibamen fight in the lava pits was a pleasnt suprise, but the final fight between piccolio and goku was so disapointing that went they take to the air, the pace is so slow i thought i was watching a tv movie, and they do knock each other threw rocks etc, but the effects are so low budget you can just see them being pulled on wires , not convincing at all.

Im sorry you guys but i just am so angry at this movie like many of you out there, have every right to be. DBZ is one of the best animes around and to this day nothing comes close to rivialing it, maybe naruto comes close but other than that this rearly should have got the £100m budget it deserves and i hope someone , somewhere decides to make the DBZ live action movie we all deserve and should have.

Ill proberly buy it on dvd when it comes out, and that will proberly be soon as it has bombed at the box office, i only hope and pray that if they make a sequal to this DBE franchise that they give the acton scenes a total makeover and replace most of the supporting class, inparticular Yamcha - who i thought was just plain awful and wtf was up with that hairdue?.

I am one very saddened DBZ fan, i hope us fans dont get any more crap DB films but im sure the movie makers just do it just to wind us up.

A very, very low rental in my opinon.
