The reboot machine is still in motion, and this time it's rocket-fueled. Disney is apparently planning to reboot their 1991 film 'The Rocketeer.' The original film took place in the 1930s and centered on pilot Cliff Secord who discovers a rocket pack in one of his planes. The rocket was stolen by gangsters from none other than Howard Hughes (played in the film by 'Lost's Terry O'Quinn). A Hollywood actor, and secret Nazi conspirator, pursues the rocket for his own sinister purposes. 'The Rocketeer' was based on a comic book by the late artist Dave Stevens, which was first printed by the now defunct Pacific Comics in 1982. According to reports, Disney will soon begin meeting with writers in order to flesh out a new concept for the character.

Gritting my teeth to trying and stay positive on this reboot, but 'The Rocketeer' is one of my favorite Disney movies live-action or otherwise. It's got such a great story and rich pulp texture bred of the era in which it was set. Timothy Dalton was a great villain, a take on classic actor Errol Flynn who was rumored to be a Nazi conspirator, Jennifer Connelly was drop-dead gorgeous as the romantic lead, and the action was energetic and wonderfully styled. While not a runaway financial success for Disney, the original film has developed a cult following over the years, which might explain why the studio is keen on revamping it for a new audience. I will say one advantage the reboot would enjoy at this time is that 'Captain America: The First Avenger' brought the period action movie back into mainstream popularity. Who directed 'Captain America' again? Oh right, Joe Johnston...the director of 'The Rocketeer.' I guess I'll resign myself that if the appropriate writer and director are chosen, there may be some spark left in this rocket.

What do you guys think? Should Disney reboot 'The Rocketeer?' If they do, who would you choose to direct? To star?

Joe Johnson is most likely still in contract with Disney. So, that can only mean that he is first in line to do this remake. lets hope that he wants to or has the time..... i mean, the man has top do another Captain America too. and making this a cartoon will not get people into theaters. all it will do is make certain that one one in major Hollywood will every take it serious. and if u think I'm am lying, go ask Pixar how they are treated. and wait how banner are they under again?????

I'd be down if they made it an animated movie.  Otherwise...meh.

If they did a movie that was stylized like the poster above us then I may be interested.

if not: "FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU"

It's been so long since I watched The Rocketeer, all I remember is being charmed by the "period-ness" of it all, and then the Mobsters join up with the FBI and they get into a gunfight with the Nazis and I was like "woah".

I need to revisit this movie.  Haven't watched it since probably '92.  And that means I was only 3 years old!

Jason Fisher should work on this...seriously!

I didn't care for the film...it was kinda meh for me, but I'm open to see what they do with it.

I should be in charge of the remake.  First, the part of "Cliff" Secord should be played by amazing actress Zuleikha Robinson.  Now, wait!  Hear me out here.  You see in this version underground bondage photo model and aspiring actress Bettie Page is also a barnstorming pilot who accidentally comes in possession of a super-scientific jetpack created by an unknown race of humans called the Atlanthiums (a race of super-hot lesbian amazons) who are fighting a war with neo-Nazi time travelers from the future for control of the time-stream continuum.  Bettie/Cliff must ally herself with the Atlanthiums figthing against the neo-Nazis (a race of mysognistic chavanistic men).

I'd rather see a sequel. Same characters, but a different actor and a new story.

Bitch are you for real?
I am in the minority but i loved the rocketeer, dunno if that necessarily means they should reboot it.
