Director Matt Reeves Talks About Talks 'Let the Right One In' Remake

Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) talked to the Los Angeles Times about his upcoming English remake of Let the Right On In, the award-winning Swedish horror film.
"I was just hooked," Reeves told the newspaper. "I was so taken with the story and I had a very personal reaction. It reminded me a lot of my childhood, with the metaphor that the hard times of your pre-adolescent, early adolescent moment, that painful experience is a horror."
Reeves has finished a second draft of the script, now titled Let Me In. The film will be set in Reagan-era Colorado.
The production is also looking for the two leads, which Reeves vows will not be aged-up to make the film more of a smoldering Twilight-style romance. The story centers around Oscar, an overlooked and bullied boy who finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.

best case scenario, you have a decent director who makes a film that not only doesn't suck but will turn a lot of people onto the original work(s).
worst case scenario the remake fails horribly and turns a lot of people onto the original work(s).
I'd much rather see a remake by a director who cares for the original material as opposed to a "White Chicks 2: That Time of the Month", "Alien:We Need Money" or another Rob Schneider film.

Bleh, i was afraid this was gonna happen.
The actress did an amazing job playing eli and she had a perfect look of evil but innocent and cute and i think (since it is hollywood after all) eli will be played by some 27 year old trying to pass as 17. Its hard to find good child actors.
This isnt quite will smith as oldboy bad but it still sucks.

You do realize that's the title of the book Let The Right One In was based on, right?
I think this movie has a lot of room for improvement, so I'm kind of anticipating how this will turn out.

So f*cking bored with this shit! but it's lowest, comon denominator shit as usual because they reckon they're guaranteed bums on seats from the familiarity factor, the interest in seeing what they've done with a remake and the fact the original was so good some of that magic might rub off on the remake and they'll have their own winner on their hands!
