Say what you want about this movie, but there's no denying that the sub-title "Die Harder" is as cheesy as they come.

Die Hard 2: Die Harder is the sequel to Die Hard and this one has Bruce Willis returning as John McClane to stop more terrorists. This time, the terrorists have hijacked the control tower of an airport and now all planes at the airport are flying circles around the place with the risk of running out of fuel and crashing.

It's common knowledge that most sequels are not as good as the original and Die Hard 2 by no means is as good as Die Hard, but it still is an enjoyable movie. It has all the intense action that the original Die Hard had and Bruce Willis is just as great, but this movie does lack in certain aspects.

For one thing, the characters are weaker than the original. We got some recurring characters like McClane, his wife and the douchebag news reporter, but this movie is missing characters that are as likable as the ones in the first movie. There are people working at the airport and they help McClane and all that, but they just felt weak compared to the guys helping McClane in the first movie. I also felt the villain in this movie was good, but again, he felt weaker compared to Hans Gruber. I realize that he's not suppose to be Hans Gruber, but I would've wanted a little more with this being a sequel.

But where the movie does suceed is all of the action that happens. There's plenty of action scenes that will please people. The fight between McClane and Barnes on the wing of the plane is really cool and the scene where grenades are being chucked at McClane in the cockpit is really intense. (even if the grenades literally take forever to go off) I think that this movie does do action really well and it has all the stuff that you would expect in a Die Hard film as far as action goes.

Die Hard 2 is definately a step down from Die Hard, but I still like it for what it is. It's a solid action film, Bruce Willis and the rest of the cast are all really good, it's intense, there are certain aspects like characters and script that felt a bit underwhelming, but it's still an enjoyable sequel that continues the Die Hard series and leads up to my favorite of the Die Hard sequels, Die Hard: With a Vengeance.

Rating: 6/10

It's definently my least favorite of the Die Hard films, but i still have love for it. Campy, clichéd, and trying too hard to tie into the first film, somehow Die Hard 2 sets the tone for what works in the later films. It allows us to see John McClane as a comic book style hero that can take us on these unbelievable adventures. The series lives up to it's name. It's going to take one hell of a bad film (Or the death of Bruce Willis) for this franchise to DIE!
