If it's crap... We'll tell you

Instead of doing the same old top 10 list I have decided to review this year in film. If I may say 2008 has been a great year for movies, we have seen that comic books can become Oscar worthy movies, we have witnessed the Resurrection of Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr.'s careers, this year at one point everyone liked Tom Cruise again! But there's also a dark side of 2008, Friedberg and Seltzer plagued us with two films, 10,000 BC destroyed my vision of the year 10,000 BC and Paris Hilton is still alive! Why can't she die! WHY! God I hate her.....now I'm going to stop rambling and begin the countdown of the Best and Worst of 2008.

January
Meet the Spartans - The first of two Friedberg and Seltzer movies that came out this year. I did not see this because I have half a brain but this film taught me that this nations youth are idiots. I'm not talking about the under 13 crowd, they get a pass from me, I'm talking about those dumb ass High School kids.

Rambo - Now this is a god damn movie! Rambo in Burma killing some pure evil people. This is my favorite Rambo film and one of my favorite films of the year.

February
The Hottie and the Nottie - This is the worst movie I have ever seen. I watched this on the Internet only because I wanted to see how bad it is, which it is bad. I do get joy in knowing that this was probably the most hated movie of the year and made the less money of the year.

Semi-Pro - I know the majority of Spill hates this movie but I enjoyed it. It was what I wanted to see, a stupid Will Ferrell comedy. It wasn't a great film but I liked it.

March
10,000 BC - I don't hate this film but I do consider it one of the worst movies of the year. The acting was horrible, the writing was awful, the CGI was bad and the film was terrible.I still can't get over how bad the CGI was.

Run, Fat Boy, Run - This film was another very funny Simon Pegg film. I enjoyed the the romantic/comedy style of the film. Hank Azaria and Simon Pegg were very funny and Thandie Newton did a very good job playing the sweetheart of the film. Not everybody will like this film but if your a Pegg fan you will enjoy it.

April
Leatherheads - This was just a fun film. Again, this is a film that not a whole lot of people will like but I did. Clooney and Krasinski are funny and I can actually stand Renée Zellweger. Very enjoyable film.

Young@Heart - This was a heart warming film. I can't even tell you how much I loved this movie. I cried, I laughed and then I cried more. If you don't know the film is a documentary about a 22 member chorus of senior citizens. A must see for anyone who has a heart.

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed - Another very good documentary starring Ben Stein. This documentary reveals how scientist who believe in intelligent design careers are destroyed. It's a very controversial film and you could say is the anti-Religulous film of the year.

May
Iron Man - This is my favorite film of the year and how could it not be, Robert Downey Jr. is a perfect tony Stark, Jeff Bridges was amazing in this film as the evil Obadiah Stane, Terrence Howard was a great Rhodey (God damn Marvel) and Gwyneth Paltrow looked the part of Pepper Potts. Jon Favreau did a very good job as a director which is surprising since it was his first extremely high budget film. I can't say it enough, I love this movie.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - This was a very entertaining sequel that had everything the first film didn't, battle scenes. The special effects were really good and the acting was fine.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - This wasn't the best Indiana film but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. It was a fun film with everything I expected to see in it.

Postal - Don't hate me because I didn't hate it. I know the majority of Spill hates this film but I didn't mind it, there were some funny parts but more bad parts. To me it's just there. I don't hate or love it.

War, Inc. - This was a really fun film. Cusack and Duff put up very good performances, Ben Kingsley is amazing in this, he is so funny and cool. Joan Cusack is also very funny in this. If you liked Grosse Pointe Blank you will love this.

The Foot Fist Way - This was another very funny film starring Danny McBride who also wrote the screenplay in a independent film about a man who teaches people how to kick other people in the face. If you liked Napoleon Dynamite you will like this.

June
Kung Fu Panda - DreamWorks finally put out a film that can compete with the greatness that we call Pixar. I'm not saying I didn't like Shrek or Ice Age but they just never reached that point of greatness like any Pixar film. Kung Fu Panda is a very funny film that is beautiful to look at.

The Incredible Hulk - Another very good comic book movie but nowhere as successful as Iron Man. This movie accomplished two very big things: 1. It showed the world that there could be a good Hulk film and 2. It was the perfect set up for the Avengers movie. Ed Norton was a great Bruce Banner, Liv Tyler was the weakest part of the cast but was still enjoyable, William Hurt and Tim Roth were very good too. Also the Hulk looked very good in this film unlike the first movie.

The Love Guru - I've been Mike Myers' biggest supporters but after this film I don't know if I can do it anymore. I liked all three Austin Power films, I liked both Wayne World films, I enjoyed all three Shrek films but after this I am done. It's not that I hated this movie it's that it's not original or funny. I guess Mike Myers ran out of ideas after Cat in the Hat.

Wall-E - This was an amazing film. It was very risky for Pixar to do but thank god they did. This is the best animated film of the year.

July
Hancock - Will Smith is the owner of the Fourth of July so of course there would be a Smith film coming out and luckily this time it was good. Smith and the rest of the cast had good performances and the story was very good but the end felt a little rushed in my opinion.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army - I am so happy that del Toro made a great Hellboy film, I liked the first but this was amazing. Ron Pearlmen is the perfect Hellboy and should be given more credit for that.

The Dark Knight - Enough has been said about this film so lets move on.

Step Brothers - Will Ferrell's second comedy of the year which is the better one but is still generally hated by the public. I enjoyed it for what it is, a Ferrell comedy.

August
Pineapple Express - Add this to the list of funny Seth Rogan comedies. Franco is great in this as well as McBride.

Tropic Thunder - This is my favorite comedy of the war and maybe even war movie. Stiller is becoming a much better director but seems to be losing the onscreen funny. Downey Jr. finishes the year with his fourth film and maybe his best performance and don't argue with me on that, he played an Australian who plays a African-American and then just an Australian. That's something. Black and the rest of the cast do a great job.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Because of this Star Wars and George Lucas are dead to me.

Disaster Movie - Friedberg and Seltzer's last film of the year was as bad as the first. Nothing more I can say.

September
Burn After Reading - The Coen Brothers give us another great comedy that stars Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John Malkovich and many more great performers.

Ghost Town - Ricky Gervais gives us a very funny film that might be the most underrated comedy of the year.

Appaloosa - Ed Harris brings us this years best and only western movie. I enjoyed it very much and still think it is Oscar worthy.

October
Quarantine - [REC]'s remake is my favorite horror film of the year and is in the top 10 best remakes.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno - I am a Kevin Smith fan so of course I will love this film. I am very happy to see Smith succeeding in his second film that is not in his View Askewniverse.

November
Soul Men - Ever since we heard about Bernie Mac's death everyone was looking forword to this film. I will admit the story was stupid but every time Jackson and Mac got a chance to ad lib greatness came out.

Australia - This years second western was also one of my most anticipated movie. The acting in this film is great, the scenery is amazing and the film all and all is pretty good.

December
Punisher: War Zone - Well, this film was bad. Too over the top I say but I kinda liked it and I think Rey Stevenson is a great Frank Castle.

Frost/Nixon - To me this is a perfect movie, perfect casting, acting, directing and story telling. Everyone should see this film. This should win Best Picture in my opinion.

The Wrestler - Mickey Rourke is amazing in this and deserves and Oscar and every other award there is. This is my second favorite movie of the year. You need to see this.

Marley & Me - This is just another heart warming funny film that you should bring the kids to see. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston work great with each other.

The Spirit - I can only say two things, god damn you Frank Miller and I told you so.

Best Film - Frost/Nixon (Universal Studios)
Best Comedic Film - Tropic Thunder (Paramount Pictures/DreamWorks)
Best Animated Film - Wall-E (Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar Animation Studios)
Best Documentary - Young@Heart (Fox Searchlight Pictures)
Best Performance - Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
Best Director - Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight)
Worst Film - The Hottie and the Nottie (Regent Releasing)

NOTE: This list isn't done yet, I still need to see the Curios Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire and other films that deserve to be on this list.

Ice Age is not a Dreamworks movie it was made by Blue Sky Studios and released by 20th Century Fox. Just to help you out Madagascar 1 and 2 were made by Dreamworks.

By the by, good calls on the Oscar nods, I totally agree (But haven't seen Ben Button, Young@Heart or the Wrestler yet). Have you seen Man On Wire? I've heard really good stuff about it.

Concise, well supported, and unique. I actually think this was a good approach to the year-in-movies.
And I only wish I saw that many movies.

While I do agree with a lot of things you have to say, I am very against you labeling a movie you did not see the worst movie of the year. Not saying that watching Meet the Spartans ISN'T the cinematic equivalent of walking through a colossal shitstorm without a map, but from a critic standpoint, you must at least view what they are trying to pass off as a movie, otherwise, you lose credibility.
