Deadpool Film Going Into Production This Year?

Ever since the release of the, shall we say, less-than-stellar 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' fans have been curious about the possibility of a spin-off movie featuring the character DeadpoolRyan Reynolds ('Green Lantern') played the role of Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) in Gavin Hood's Wolverine film and many wondered whether he would reprise the role for the character's individual film. In fact, after a couple of years of silence, many wondered whether the Deadpool movie would happen at all. Well fret no longer, Dead (pool) Heads, it looks like the movie is in fact a reality. A recent report states that 'Deadpool,' indeed starring Reynolds, will finally go into production later this year. Tim Miller (who worked on visual effects for 'Scott Pilgrim') is still attached to direct the anti-hero superhero flick. This same source also stated that Marvel's mulligan movie, 'The Wolverine,' will go into production this year as well.

I'm actually interested to see a film delve deeper into the origins of Deadpool. I won't pretend to be an expert on the character, but I like the fact that he was a terminal cancer patient who allowed the Weapon X program to save him, the same program of course that gave us Wolverine. But more than that, I like that Marvel is going to give us a character who doesn't conform to the rigorous, black and white definitions of good and evil; of hero and villain. It will also be interesting to see what Reynolds can do with the character when he's not suffocated by the dreadful 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' script. But of course, I need some help from the Spillverse on this one. Tell me what you guys think of Deadpool getting his own film. Do you think Ryan Reynolds is the right choice for the role or has 'Wolverine' and/or 'Green Lantern'put you off the idea of this guy playing a comic book character?

As of right now, 'Deadpool' is slated for a 2014 release.

Deadpool is one of those characters in comic books that has changed so much and gone from a bad guy, to a good guy and back to a bad guy and so forth, just like Venom, that it would be kind of hard to portray him in a movie and still be able to please all of the fans out there. riding the fence on this one.

We need an R rated Wolverine and an R rated Deadpool. An R rated Batman in the future would be pretty nice too but I don't see that happening anytime soon...

I think he fits the role of Deadpool more than Hal Jordan. But the big thing for me is that Fox is doing this movie. And we all know that they don't give a rat's ass about staying true to the source material of the comics. The last I heard of this Deadpool movie was on IGN.com when they reported that the movie was supposedly going to be PG-13. So with that said, I say, "fuck you, Fox." I love Deadpool, but I hate anything Fox does with comic book movies. I will only go see this movie in theaters if it does three things: 1) Respect the source material 2) has an R rating 3) gets at least a Full Price rating from Spill. If it doesn't do those three things, then I won't be giving my money to Fox just to see them take a shit allover one of my favorite comic characters again the way that I have in the past.
