De Niro Back for 'Midnight Run' Sequel

The Hollywood Reporter says that Universal and Robert De Niro are getting ready for a sequel to Midnight Run.
Midnight Run is the 1988 action comedy that starred De Niro as a bounty hunter who must bring back an embezzler, played by Charles Grodin, across the country.
Timothy Dowling, the writer behind Universal's comedy Role Models, is being brought on board to pen the script that would bring back De Niro's character, Jack Walsh, and pair him with a younger comedic foil.

Yeah It's prolly a shite idea to try and bottle that magic again! De Niro was on fire playing off Kotto and Grodin it all just worked a treat.
I just want him to do something good! anything! please!

Well, yea man...I'm with ya. I get it. Midnight Run is actually the FIRST DeNiro starring movie that turned a profit at the box office. At the same time, it kind of reminds me of when the studios decided to do another 48 Hours. UGH.

Midnight Run is one of my favourite De Niro movies! It's like Trains Planes and Automobiles(also classic!) crossed with the Sopranos. As much as I want Bobby back doing cool roles again I'm not sure it would work, I mean he's getting on a bit and the dialogue I doubt can be matched, but hey! prove me wrong. I'd rather watch MR2 than another meet the fuckers!
and it better be good or I'm gonna stab someone through the heart with a fuckin' pencil

um, why? Robert DeNiro is by far my favorite actor...and I understand he'll play a transvestite hooker if that's what nets him more money for his baby Tribeca Films and the Tribeca Film Festival.
But I want Bobby to do more directing. I LOOOOOVED A Bronx Tale and I thought the Good Sheppard was solid if not disturbing look into the birth of the CIA.
Do THAT...I mean, what's next Rocky and Bullwinkle 2?
