Darren Aronofsky In The Running For 'Superman: The Man Of Steel'

Source: Heat Vision

Heat Vision has a delicious scoop this morning, claiming that Warner Bros. and producer Christopher Nolan are courting Darren Aronofsky for the anticipated Superman reboot, tentatively titled The Man Of Steel.

The report comes on the heels of an announcement last week stating that filmmakers as acclaimed and varied as Zack Snyder and Duncan Jones were being considered for the massive undertaking. Apparently Ben Affleck was also in the running as of yesterday, having helmed the critically and commercially successful The Town for WB, but has dropped out of the race (probably to pursue other endeavors).

The irony in this case is that Aronofsky was once attached to direct the film that would become Nolan's Batman Begins, at the time based on Frank Miller's beloved Batman: Year One storyline. He dropped out of that project to make The Fountain for the studio, but it looks like DC heroes may be back on his plate after all.

...WAIT maybe i've changed my mind about the "maybe even BE Superman" comment if he doesn't direct it...because i just reminded myself of the dreadful DAREDEVIL. yikes, i get chills just thinking about it.

This is one of the RARE times that im not sure about Aronofsky taking the chair. i mean im SURE he would do a great job, especially compared to 3/4 of other directors...but usually when i think of his movies, i think of really psychodelic, dramatic, heartbreaking, realistic movies. Not a superhero.
As much as i would be happy to see Aronofsky helm the movie, I sort of think that would be AMAZING for Ben Affleck to direct. But i think Affleck wants to stick to grittier crime-dramas for now, since hes already a pro at them.
If Affleck can't direct it, i think he should maybe even BE Superman.

I was hoping it would be Nolen's brother, and see what he could do. Well see how this turns out, i'm not a Superman fan, but always look forward to superhero movies.

I like it. I now want to see a good fighting villain(Metallo could be fun, for action scenes of course or Parasite) and a truly evil Lex Luthor to mastermind everything. Ending with a Presidential run for Lex

they really should take someone that's not as famous a Ben Affleck for the role of Superman, Affleck could probably pull it off, but i dunno, it's a Superman movie, people are going to see it whether it's a faous actor or not playing him. They should give a chance to a talented "unknown" (less famous) actor...

As for the director, haven't seen anything of his yet, if Christopher Nolan says he's good i'm ready to give him a chance.
