has a delicious scoop this morning, claiming that Warner Bros. and producer Christopher Nolan
are courting Darren Aronofsky
for the anticipated Superman
reboot, tentatively titled The Man Of Steel.
The report comes on the heels of an announcement last week stating that filmmakers as acclaimed and varied as Zack Snyder and Duncan Jones were being considered for the massive undertaking. Apparently Ben Affleck
was also in the running as of yesterday, having helmed the critically and commercially successful The Town
for WB, but has dropped out of the race (probably to pursue other endeavors).
The irony in this case is that Aronofsky was once attached to direct the film that would become Nolan's Batman Begins
, at the time based on Frank Miller's beloved Batman: Year One
storyline. He dropped out of that project to make The Fountain
for the studio, but it looks like DC heroes may be back on his plate after all.
