Daredevil Reboot: My Thoughts

After hearing the news of the Daredevil reboot, I have decided to state my opinions on what a Daredevil reboot should be.

THE STORY:

What I really want to see in a reboot is an adaptation of Frank Miller’s the Man Without Fear. Why? Because it is the perfect origins story for DD without leaving out any of the small details (like Stick). Even though Matt doesn’t don the suit until the very end, it is full of dramatic moments, action, and is truly a definitive Daredevil story.

THE CAST:

Brad Pitt as Daredevil

Not a popular pick, but to me, I think he could pull off the role really well. Another reason I think he could do it is because the role is a very versatile one, where the actor would need to not only be Daredevil, but he also has to be Matt Murdock the lawyer, Matt Murdock the lover, and Matt Murdock the responsible hero, which is something Brad Pitt can do.

Angelina Jolie as Elektra

This is a perfect fit for Elektra. Unlike Jennifer Garner, who obviously is not a Greek assassin, Angelina would look and act the part of Elektra Natchios. It’s also a role of versatility, because she’s both a hero and a villain.

Jason Statham as Bullseye

After his work in the Crank films, he makes the perfect fit for Bullseye. Why? Because he is completely crazy and so is Bullseye. However, he has stated he only wants to do Daredevil, but if he gets over it, then it will do wonders for his career.

James Gandolfini as Kingpin

Although I think the Sopranos is a little overrated, the character of Tony Soprano made that show work. And the characterization of Tony is similar to Kingpin because both those characters run powerful Mafia families. Another thing is that it is hard to find an actor to play Kingpin, but Gandolfini is the only guy in my mind who could do it well.

(Note: I do want to see Foggy, Karen Page, Ben Urich, and Stick, it's just I have no clue who to cast as them).

THE DIRECTOR:

David Fincher
Why Him? Well this is something taylor-made for his style of filmmaking. Daredevil under his direction could be made like Seven as a superhero movie, like Cyrus said in the Daredevil episode of LEOG.

Darren Aronofsky
Why Him? He is a great director with a great vision. And if he were to adapt a story like Born Again, he would be making the Requiem for a Dream of comic book movies.

STUDIO INVOLVEMENT:

Since Disney somehow got his movie rights back from New Regency, I expect that they should hand those rights over to Miramax, so they won't make change's to the comic's dark tones in order to keep up with the company's image. But as long as the story is intact then I won't be complaining. Other than that, I'd really love to see no studio involvment other than forking over dough.

SPECIAL CAMEOS:

None. Why? Remember how Wolverine turned into a movie all about cameos? Well that's what ruined it in my honest opinion. But if really necessary, just throw in a small Spider-Man, Punisher or Black Widow cameo, because they're the only ones that could work well.
