Danny DeVito Is Cantankerous In 'The Lorax' Trailer

The first trailer for Dr. Seuss' 'The Lorax' just hit the web. The trailer starts off as a strange sort of animated indie rom-com before it even gets to the signature Seussian whimsicality. But when we actually meet the Lorax himself, that's when I feel the trailer earns its stripes. The little orange creature is voiced by equally short Danny DeVito. It is almost assured that the Lorax will not start spouting lines from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,' but part of me wishes the grumpy little creature would launch into vulgar, hate-filled tirades. The animation looks solid and my only real requirement for 'The Lorax' is that its not 'The Cat in the Hat.'

'The Lorax' lands in theaters March 2, 2012.

Huh, Danny DeVito was never the voice I imagined when I read the Lorax. Anyways why is the Lorax barely in this trailer till the end? Anyway its will probably be like the Grinch and have a bunch of useless filler to take up the extra time. Mostly I wonder if they will end it like the original.

The animation is GORGEOUS!!!! But the story looks like any other Dr. Seuss adaptation.... complete s**t. They seem to totally missed the point of The Lorax, and since when does the Lorax crack jokes and punch Once-Ler in the face. The Lorax is a hippie and he speaks for the trees. Not a belligerent old fart.

I get that they have to stretch the story, the part where they live in a artificial world and a guy trying to impress a girl by speaking to the Once-Ler to learn what happened to the Truffula Trees. That's fine, I actually kind of like that, it's clever way to stretch it out, it's just The Lorax part of the story that concerns me.

Doesn't look too bad at the moment. It looks alright, I just don't know if this will turn out as great as the original book. Hopefully it will. The animation is great and the joke at the end of the trailer gave me a little laugh, so hopefully it's good.

'I was with this until I saw Taylor Swift's name in the credits... Now I know this is gonna be some phoned in crap... Why can't we just have a nice animated film with good voice actors instead of celebrities?!'

'And when did Taylor Swift start doing movies?'

What about her voice in this trailer made you go 'eek... Taylor Swift'? You heard about four lines from her. And it's not even her doing the physical acting. Jesus, you people are so superficial.

From my perspective, this looks to be maybe the best Dr. Seuss adaptation yet. We'll see how it stacks up against 'Horton Hears a Who!' come March.
