Director Danny Boyle ('127 Hours') has announced that the next film he tackles will be 'Trance' - an "art heist gone wrong" style film in a dark tone similar to his films 'Shallow Grave' or 'Trainspotting'.

Boyle, who has been tapped to direct the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, will be snapping up both UK and US actors as soon as possible and hope to have the film shot by September, at which point it will be temporarily shelved while he works on the Olympics. Then, after all the preparation and work there are completed, he will resume on the film sometime next August, aiming for a first-quarter 2013 release.

Boyle will again reunite with his 'Slumdog Millionaire' co-producer Christian Colson, and the pair are currently in talks with Fox Searchlight and Pathe for funding and world-wide distribution.

I can see Boyle doing some amazing visuals for the ceremonies, how awesome that they chose him. I'm sure he'll be fantastic. Love the Olympics. Emotion, drama, and Morgan Freeman-narrated VISA commercials.

Direct the Olympic Games? Hmm Opening and Closing Ceremonies are powerful. Perhaps he should have Britain's best boxer Lennox Lewis light the Torch? (in a nod to Ali doing it here a few years ago) Or Perhaps Prince William?(I know, I could go to soooo many wrong places about his "torch" already being lit)  Want a real dramatic Torch Lighting? How about Sir Anthony Hopkins (AKA Odin) Hey True Believes, who should light the torch?

The Summer Olympics still only occur every 4 years N/A.

When I was younger, the Olympics used to actually occur every four years.  Now it feels like I hear about some iteration of them constantly, and thus they're not as special to me anymore.  But uh, about the movie, yeah.
