Now I have never really like multiplayer in games, just never truly cared for it. However, this game is amazing. I can’t explain why I enjoy it because from a game standpoint it is not that great. I still can’t stop playing though, you want to know why? I’ll tell you why, oh I’ll tell you.
Story- There is no story. It is purely a multiplayer experience. All you need to know, it is terrorist vs. counter-terrorist. That’s all there is and that is all they need.
Sound- The game sounds comparable to Call of Duty’s multiplayer. You’ve got the music at the beginning of each match and the guns all have loud bangs. Let’s not forget about the guy over the radio that says “Terrorist have planted the bomb” or “Rescue the hostages.”
Graphics- This is where I mark the game down a notch. I understand this is an older game, but I bought this off of the Xbox Live marketplace. I was hoping for at least a HD up res. Instead, it looked like they just took the PC version and slapped it on the 360.
Gameplay- It is time for the most important part of the game, how it plays. This game is like Call of Duty but it is way more fun. I know I’ve been comparing this to the Activison giant a lot, but the game plays is a lot like it and nothing like it at the same time. It is similar due to the modern era and the weapons with the 12 year old kicking my ass. The game is nothing like Call of Duty on how it plays. Each match you start out with a pistol and you have to buy the gun you want. You earn money after each round, it is nice because even if your team gets there ass kicked you still get enough money to get a machine gun. Unlike the other modern military shooters, the game is more focused on team work. You can loan wolf it and do fine but if you are alone and come up on three guys, they will kill the shit out of you. It’s nice to see a game that makes you work together. Precision is the key in this game. If you spray and pray you might get lucky but the guy with the better accuracy will win each time. It is unlike the other games where it is so chaotic you don’t know how you got killed. This game is truly a squad shooter, it is slow paced and you get one life per round. I do like the objectives in the game because it gives you a choice; you can kill the other team or rescue the hostages. Sadly, I have to talk about the bad things about the game. There are not a ton of maps so if you played like I’ve played the last week you get pretty sick of the same maps over and over. There is no level up system. I’ve been spoiled by ranking up and getting new perks and weapons, but this game seems to lackluster in that department. The no customization is heartbreaking, I love being able to customize my character and weapons. These things don’t take away from the enjoyment I originally got, but it takes the legs out from this game. I still enjoy this more than most multiplayers; I just don’t see this game taking the spot of Call of Duty anytime soon.
Overall the game is only 15 dollars or 1200 Microsoft magic points. I say pick it up while people are still playing. It may not have as much in the game as say Battlefield or Call of Duty but the game is just as fun. I have to say buy this, it was one of the few games where I lost track of time and ended up playing it for hours. I give Counter Strike Global Offensive a B.
