Rating-Matinee'   Contraband tells the tale of a legendary smuggler who is forced back into the business when a crook holds his wife and kid hostage. The script is well written, containing good dialogue and a good plot. The acting is also pretty good, and the film greatly benefits from Mark Wahlberg as the main lead, as he gives one of the best performances of his career, plus the action kicks ass. The problem is the film's awful pacing, it is all over the place and sort of becomes boring in some parts. But still, Contraband is a career redemption for Mark Wahlberg, and a good film overall.
