What really bugs me about the short films nominated is how few of them are available to the general public. They all look great (I'm especially interested in Urs and Le silence sous l'écorce) but there's nowhere to watch them!

...And the reasons why the one about cows was nominated escapes me.

Because... it's French? ...And it has a preachy message?

You have no idea how happy I am to see a Wile E. Coyote short,, I wish they hadn't dragged that gag on.

Wile E Coyote does not deserve to win, and it's lucky to be nominated. It isn't original and relies entirely on audience recognition. The animation was nice, but that's a given with the money backing it.

Why isn't Spill nominated ??

I kinda liked the Coyote one but I'm with Matenzo, I like the chuck jones style of animation better. To me the night and day short is the most clever!

I dunno, the part with the antenna and the broadcast (around 4:10) sorta ruined the pixar one for me. It felt forced and unnecessary.

I liked the look of koyote falls but I still didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the original Chuck Jones shorts. They spend all this time trying to translate the feel of the original 2D looney toons of the 1950s to 3D and it just reminds me of how much better they used to be.

Not too excited about the rest of the clips either though. I was kinda looking forward to liking the more "indie" shorts but I can't say that I did. :S

I like the majority of these but none of them really wowed me, The Wile Coyote one in particular disappointed me until I re-watched it and while Sensology is one of the better ones, but I can't shake the feeling that it seems too aware of how clever it is, but maybe that's just me. Le silence sous l'écorce might be my favourite though, even if only because its hitting that Christmas nerve.
