Cold Prey 2.
Back in 2006 Norway proved that it was perfectly capable of crafting slasher movies with the surprisingly good Fritt Vilt, or Cold Prey as it’s known in English. Hell Cold Prey was better than most American horror flicks. After becoming a big hit in Norway it’s no surprise a sequel got the green light. Would Norway follow Hollywood and make weak cash in sequel?
Well Cold Prey 2 isn’t as good as the first movie but it’s still a damn fine slasher flick. Following in the footsteps of Halloween 2, Cold Prey 2 picks up where the first movie left off with Survivor Jannicke being found in the snow and taken to the local Hospital. Little does she know the bodies of her friends, along with the killer have been taken to morgue downstairs and little does anyone know, the killer isn’t really dead. The hospital is in the middle of closing down so there is very little staff or patients left and pretty soon there will be even less.
The first Cold Prey wasn’t original but it was well made, written and acted with some terrific edge of your seat moments. This sequel is pretty much the same, has the perfect mix of gore and suspense. It’s obvious the budget in this one was bigger than before as this movie has a bigger cast, better gore effects. While I wouldn’t call it a blood bath like My Bloody Valentine, Laid To Rest or Friday The 13th it still features some cool kills. I think the look of the killer has improved; he looks a lot more menacing this time around. The hospital setting is really good and used quite well.
There were a few things about this movie that bothered me. Firstly there is a child character here that gets quite a bit of screen time but doesn’t really seem to do much. By the time the movie ended I don’t think this character added anything and could probably just of been deleted. Also at one point the police show up with guns, this entire sequence didn’t add anything as it wasn’t suspenseful or violent, I kind of tuned out of the movie at this point. Also way does no one listen to Jannicke? She’s fought this fucker before she knows what she is talking about damn it.
Cold Prey 2 may not be as good at the first movie but it’s still a very worth follow up. Sure it’s not very original but it’s got great suspense, a cool female lead and some decent kills, an overall winner.

AGREED however i liked how the killers outfit look in the original where it was aolt whiter and it blended in with the snow better then and it just seemed ghostly even haunting
