Carlyle parties down at CONvergence Day 1

HOLY CRAP! It is officially the morning of day 2 and last night, the slowest of the four days, was completely off the hook. After a day of catching up with old friends and the mass consumption of coffee from COF2E2 (merging with the coffee on an almost molecular level) I sat on one of the best panels of my life. SMACKDOWN! Here a bunch of writers and comedians voted on death match of Video Game Character vs Video Game Character to determine the all time baddest of the bad. Joining us after a while was the computer from Portal and that's when everything went off the rails (in a good way.) While there was no cake (the cake is a lie) there were jokes comparing my member to the 50ft Lizard named Lizzie in RAMPAGE!, arguments over which way Lara Croft could best employ the L shaped piece from TETRIS and why anyone, specifically Ryu, would rip the arms off of a Gi. I mean, honestly. After three brutal rounds, 16 contestants were whittled to 2 and it came down to Lara Croft's jiggling ways and Mario's Ron Jeremy porn stash.

Mario won.

Afterwards I sat on a panel discussing the universe of Quentin Tarantino - going through the history of his films, arguments as to their merits and stories about the panelists various encounters with the man himself (and his casts.) Following that up was a crawl through the room parties that were open this early in the Con, with a hefty amount of time spent in the Romulan Consulate. This place was nerd-vana. Was it Star Trek geeks sitting around debating their favorite episodes? Fuck. No. This is the ROMULAN consulate. There was buckets of free booze, stripping nerd girls pole dancing and bad ass music ranging from Survivor's EYE OF THE TIGER, Queen's WE WILL ROCK YOU, Abba's DANCING QUEEN and even a little Grease. Have you ever seen a foxy nerd girl strip to her panties to the soundtrack of Grease? No? Then you have not lived.

And you definitely haven't been to Convergence.

I'll hopefully have some photos tonight. My roommates Dmann and Codename: Dragonfly have been snapping photos o' plenty. Tonight I'm gonna sing some songs in the Serenity Galley tonight, get some munchies at the Tardis Tea Party and definitely consume more than my fair share of cold ones.
