nkWhiteStar posted a statusI'm super excited about the Spill.com Houston Pub Crawl happening next next weekend (01-26-2013) and the chance to get drunk in my old hometown. Only thing is, we still haven't decided on exactly WHERE? to kick this thing off. The city has changed so much since I lived there, but thankfully we've have tremendous help from Spillios like Spotlight Spyder, Capt Lonestar and It's Just Ryan in helping us come up with some options.
Take a look at these and tell us what you think. What's your opinions of these places from personal experience? How easy is to find parking, fit in a lot of people or walk from one bar to the next? Does it serve food? Does it have liquor or just beer and wine? Is there a cover charge?
We'll be considering all of your feedback and probably announcing our decision on this week's ACOCO.

Midtown. Double Trouble

I admit, I don't know much about this but the Double Trouble sounds like a great place that isn't too crowded on the weekends and has lots of parking on the street. It's also directly on the Metro line and there's a Continental Club across the street.

Comment by Matthew Cole Cooper on January 22, 2013 at 8:08am Also...in midtown you can start off at moongoose vs cobra and head to LEON's lounge first. then head to all the bars after. If you're worried about frat boy douchers..you'll run into them everywhere. Thursday is the major douche night at midtown, friday and saturday is the douche night at washington. Just let us know.
Comment by Matthew Cole Cooper on January 22, 2013 at 7:59am I'm voting against washington, seriously the parking is horrible, the frat boys and terrible and covers at alot of their places that are better to visit. I'd do liberty station sawyer and kung fu, those are pretty normal to me.
Would suggest midtown, sent Leon an email with the midtown locations to hit up like pub ficiton little woodrows shot bar and howl at the moon. You can park and walk to every bar there.
I'm also inviting everyone to hit up prohibition friday night, great mixology bar in galleria and a bad ass burlesque show at 10:30.
Let's get it set, Ive got a rockets/nets game saturday night so I'll be late meeting up with you all but I'll definitely be there. #1 suggestion midtown.

Comment by It's Just Ryan on January 18, 2013 at 9:50pm In order of preference.
1. Downtown
2. Either Montrose or Midtown
3. Washington Ave
That also seems to be the ranking in terms of parking too. Downtown plenty parking, both lots and garages, but it's not free. The price isn't bad though. I'm down with wherever you guys decide.
I've not been to the Washington strip since they built it up and carpet bombed it with hipsters, but it looks like the best option of the four listed. Option #3 is, in my opinion, a bad idea. As CoHostlovesmysugarlumps (great name, by the way) said, Avil gets stupid busy. There's often a line just to get in.
Another option is Rice Village. Parking can be a pain, but frankly none of the options have great parking. The Village has Brian O'Neill's, The Gingerman and Little Woodrow's all right next to each other. There's also the Kelvin Arms a few blocks north. There are also a lot of restaurants either next door to the three pubs or across the street.
The biggest seller to me is that the Village is very pedestrian friendly.
Comment by CoHostlovesmysugarlumps on January 18, 2013 at 5:11pm I am so excited for this. I live in The Heights (north of downtown) so all these places are good for me but here is my order and why.
1. Washington - The parking is a HUGE pain in the ass. That being said, if we start early enough it shouldn't be too hard. This one wins on sheer volume alone. So many options. It is the "cool" strip right now so it is really crowded which I worry about with a spill get together (too many people, not enough seats) but like I said, so many options all so close.
2. Downtown - There is lots of parking downtown, non of it is free but its not too pricey. These are three decent places that have lots of space and are super close together. I work a block from these so I go to them for HH a lot. Downtown houston can be kind of a ghost town on weekends though (very random when and why) so that can be good and bad. These are also more beer bars, nothing fancy.
3. Montrose - Good choice of bars but all far apart. Also Anvil gets INSANELY Crowded on weekends to the point you can't even stand and talk to people without bumping others shoulders. Parking can be hard too depending on the time.
4. Midtown - I have not been to Double Trouble either. From what I have heard it is a cool place but it is only 1 place so thats why this is my last choice. That and I HATE a lot of the other bars in midtown. Tons of Douche Bags who are busy trying to mack on random girls all night. Parking is a huge ass pain normally. Double Trouble sounds like it found a solution but besides that it can suck.
Regardless of where we end up I am so excited, preparing my liver already!
Choose...... Wisely
