Bryan Singer is a 'Battlestar Galactica' geek, and thankfully so is his new writer. Universal is in the final stage of a deal to sign John Orloff ('Anonymous,' 'Legend of the Guardians') to pen the script based on the 1978 television series. Orloff claims he has wanted to write this movie since he was 12 years old, when he was building balsa wood models of the series' ships. Bryan Singer has been developing this project for a decade, but it wasn't until Warner Brothers pulled the plug on his 'Excalibur' movie that he decided the time was finally right to move forward with 'Battlestar Galactica.'
I'm actually interested to see a 'Battlestar' movie based on the original series. As much as I think the most recent incarnation of the 'Battlestar Galactica' universe was a vast improvement on the OG television series, I'm glad Singer is not trying to retread something so fresh. I have caught episodes of the original series and, geeks forgive me, find it to be a bit dull. The question here is, without simply recreating the 70s depictions of spacecraft and space fashion, how will Singer distinguish his film aesthetically to stand apart from the newer television series?
Would you guys be interested in a new 'Battlestar Galactica' movie or do you think we aren't far enough removed from the newer show to make this work?

Yeah, closure is good "And the handsome prince and his princess lived happily ever after. THE END" Now we have a load of direct to DVD sequels! The truth is as long as there will be a market for something some guy is going to try to sell us some stuff! :(
