Bruce "The Chin" Campbell - star of the 'Evil Dead' horror/comedy series and cult icon - took to his personal Twitter account last night to address some questions and rumors regarding the upcoming reboot 'The Evil Dead'. The film, directed by newcomer Fede Alvarez, written by creator Sam Raimi (with a recent script doctoring by 'Juno' writer Diablo Cody), and produced by Campbell himself, is planned for a 2013 release. Campbell, who played the main character and legendary chainsaw wielding badass Ash in the original series, is expected to make a cameo, but the popular actor had a bit of bad news for fans:
Then, to clarify the intent and scope of the new project Campbell had the following encouraging words:
So while the film may apparently have a new main character, it sounds like Raimi and crew are satisfied with the direction the reboot is taking and if it's good enough for Campbell, then we'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
