@ Tim by I can't speak for Cyrus, but for myself I can see why the religious text would offend non believers when I say "we don't like religion in our movies" is we don't like currently observed religions in our movies. Or better yet religions that have at it's very core the idea that if someone doesn't believe what you do do, they're going to hell. Cyrus can watch martial arts movies and a lot of them take place in Buddhist temples. We dislike religions that have this thing that pretty much states that those who's beliefs differ from your own are less worthuy than yourself to reap benefits. Granted they're fictional benefits but this belief is very separatist. Also religion is just downright illogical, it's myths and fairy tale logic. Holding on to such beliefs is detrimental to soiciety, the big 3 teaches the hatred of homosexuals, teaches that those who do not believe in it are somehow ignorant, when disbelief is more logical. And yeah Christianity has a tendency to piss me off more becuse it's almost rammed down your throat as an American, social and political decisions are still being made according to it and that's just outrageous. This is my take, and I love Book of Eli, I just have to ignore the biblical quotes and I prefer to believe the book he's carrying is a braille addition of an Absolute Spider-Man collection. It makes the film so much more powerful. And what I say may be offensive but try being an atheist and dragged to church and see how that can offend you. And if you can't understand what I'm saying let me know I'm half asleep and might not be wording shit right.

Yeah Korey, if you're not doing a video review of this movie, just say so.

@Eli: Religion, like politics, is a tool for control, since both have "methods" to organize a society. Atheists simply trade one "church" for another: the government, which is not surprising that many gravitate towards statism.

This was definetely a pleasent shock to open the new year. This was a damn good movie! Denzel was a force every time he was onscreen, Gary Oldman delivered yet another awesome villain, and I loved the action style.
Best of all, they didn't push the religious aspect near as much as I thought they would. It came off as more spiritual to me. Denzel wasn't caring for the book because he was a Christian; he did it because it was important to him.
My only problem with the movie was Mila Kunis. She is not a good actor. It's not her fault, she just doesn't have it. This was very apparent when she was alongside the other powerhouse performances in this film. Also, the end was really sudden and out of the blue. It sorta took me outta the experience for a bit, but it still ended strong.
Overall, it was fun, stylish, spiritual, and violent: Full Price in my book.
Oh, and Tom Waits was awesome. He needs to get some more movie gigs.

I thought the movie was fantastic! Really made you think and the end was good, without spoiling anything, DAMN that was a shocker, didn't see that coming.
