There are plenty of Marvel superheroes still active in Hollywood. Each of 'The Avengers' is gearing up for a return to individual films in the wake of Joss Whedon's mammoth blockbuster, 'The Amazing Spider-Man' is on deck next month, and the 'X-Men: First Class' sequel is not too far off. With all these super-powered balls in the air (stop giggling!), the question on many of our minds is which previously unexplored hero would be next to get a standalone film. Well, according to multiple sources at Marvel, that character is none other than Black Panther, alias T'Challa. Black Panther was an African prince who, once assuming the throne of Wakanda, was given a legendary herb that enhanced his physical attributes as well as a suit made of vibranium that can, among other things, stop the momentum of bullets. He's also considered to be one of the first mainstream black superheroes. A script for the Black Panther film is already in existence, having been penned by Mark Bailey ('Ghosts of Abu Ghraib'). No word yet on when production is expected to begin.

This is awesome news if you ask me. Black Panther is a great character, and it makes perfect sense to get the wheels spinning now on this project. This is a character with ties to The Avengers, the suit he wears composed of the same material as Captain America's shield, and was indeed a member himself at one time. If, and by if I mean when, Marvel decides to do another 'Avengers,' it would be helpful to have already established the inevitable new members in their own movies. So, Marvel, this also means you should stop dragging your feet on Ant-Man. Just saying. The obvious debate now is who should play T'Challa. I've heard the obligatory Donald Glover argument, a carry over from his unfortunately failed Spider-Man bid, but I just don't think he's got the presence nor the serious acting chops to handle it. I think 'Attack the Block's John Boyega definitely has the acting talent, but may be a bit too young still. I'm thinking somebody like Anthony Mackie ('The Hurt Locker') would be a great choice.

What do you guys think? Are you interested in a Black Panther movie? Who do you think should take on the role?
