If it's crap... We'll tell you

Okay, so this year has turned out to be one of the better years I can remember for video games. We have had so many hits it's hard for me to decide my favorites from what i have played. But enough of that on to the games! Here are my personal favorites of 2008.

Best PC.
1. Left 4 Dead
Co-Op Zombie Killing? HELL YES! Once again Valve has proved that with hard work anything is possible and this game is no exception. The game takes a pretty cool approach with the way you play the game because the AI in the game adapts to the way you and your friends play the game, so pretty much no two playthoughs are the same. The multiplayer aspect is one of my favorite things this year because ,being a pretty big zombie fan, the chance to run around with friends killing zombies for hours on end is beyond words. My one gripe was the variety of content but the with evolving AI it's not that big of a problem and with promised future content how can you go wrong.

Overall 8 Zombie Skulls out of 10

2. Fallout 3
Now I have been a big Fallout fan for years and this is the game i have been waiting for. A return to the nuclear wasteland has never looked or felt so real. With endless side missions, weapons, Perks, and other fun things you can do (Like getting a dog.. or human slaves) fallout 3 kept me busy for a very long time. My two major gripes (which a lot of people felt) was the Lackluster ending and the inability to play after you compete the main story objective, but with all the other cool things you can do you quickly forget about it. Beautiful graphics, Stunning Score, and Pretty decent overall story gives this a nice number 2 slot.

Overall 8 undetonated nuclear bombs out of 10

3. Mass Effect
Yes believe it or Not this game came to PC this year, and MAN I love this effin game, the Story is EPIC and the way you interact with other others makes the character feel almost like an extension of your self, the game was developed by Bioware who are famously known for Knights of the Old republic and man the really did out do themselves this year. My main gripe with this game was that I did not care for the PC controls (not being a big fan of Third person shooters controls are kinda a downfall without a controller) and the length of the game I competed it in about 20 hours for the main quest. Otherwise one of the great RPG's of the decade in my opinion.

Overall I give this 7 Turian Rogue Specters out of 10

((Disappointments)) I really only have one disappointment this year because over all I did not buy a lot of PC titles this year.

1. Grand Theft Auto 4
Okay first let me say this is a great game, I have played it on 360, and yeah the story is compelling and fun. This game however got the worst port in human history, Rockstar Toronto who covered the recoding to PC, disgraced this great game with various graphical and FPS issues in a wide range of PCs (Some very high end, some low) and with poor support and a patch that made this game worse for some the game dropped off the top 10 PC sale list after 3 weeks and has since been rated on average 5.5 / 10. Personally I had so much trouble playing it I returned it and bought L4D (Glad I did) They might fix it in the future but I don't really care.

Overall 1 Busted PC out of 10

Xbox 360

1. Grand Theft Auto 4
Okay aside from what you just read above this version is not the complete f*** up that the PC game was. I effin love the console version of this game, it's fun addictive and has a story on par with most gangster movies. The thing that really shines through though in my opinion is the Multiplayer, never before have people been able to jump online with friends and tear up a city full of helpless pedestrians. My major Gripe though about this game, is I felt there were not enough fun cheats in the game (Like riots, Gravity, ext) that made the previous installments so much fun, but that's a minor gripe for such a profoundly revolutionary game.

Overall 9 Dead hookers out of 10

2. Gears of War 2
Well this game was bigger than the first.. ALOT bigger in fact, from the awesome graphics (that are some of the best i have seen on 360) to the co-op and new multi-player modes this game will keep you up many nights playing it. The only thing I did not care for is that the game felt like I was playing the first one and so it felt like I was going through the motions, but overall it did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the game.

Overall 8 Chainsaw guns out of 10

3. Dead Space
This game scared the HELL out of me! This was because I made sure I would always play this game at 11 at night with the lights off and My sound on full, and man what an adventure it was like a video game version of aliens because it really captured what I felt the first time I saw that movie the feeling of not knowing what was around the corner to kill me. From the pretty cool story to the weapon upgrades this game was though and through pretty good. My main complaint is because this is a survival horror I had some serious issues with the controls and camera, but that is to be expected in a title like this and generally adds to the overall experience.

Overall 8 Horribly mutated crew members out of 10

(Disappointments) This year the only game I can think of that keeps coming up on most peoples lists is..

Star Wars the Force Unleashed
Well this game did not turn out to be the gem we had all hoped it was going to be. From long load times to graphical glitchs and bad controls Lucasarts gave us an uncompleted game that was so bad most people just tried to get through it as fast as possible so they could go turn it in to their nearest store.

Overall 3 Lucas fanboys out of 10

Best PS3

1. Little Big Planet
WoW, way out of left field comes this gem of gems, this game is a platformer that where pretty much all the content comes from the players. This is probably one of the better platformers of the last decade and works so well because you can share levels with your friends and spend hours on end building cool a** levels to tinker around with. The first time I saw this game was when I was watching e3 and Sony was presenting their business year in a level created for the event. The main problem I had was it can be time consuming and complicated to some.

overall 9 Super Mario Clones out of 10

2. Metal Gear Solid 4
Well Solid Snake returned in this, the forth title of the series, I did not really play that much of this game but the visuals are AMAZING and with extra extra long cutscenes how can you go wrong, and with the complex WTFBBQSAUCE moments we have come to love in this series it fits well at the Number 2 slot. My main complaint is the mutiplayer felt a little slow on my friends PS3 and overall it was not very fulfilling or fun(But I have a bias to Third person shooters).

Overall 8 Versions of Snake out of 10

3.Bioshock
Another gem that was released this year for PS3, and if you have not played this game by now DO IT because it is by far one of the best FPS games I have played since my days with Half Life One. The game play is solid and the graphics are Stunning at best, with a story that will make you feel fulfilled by the end of it throw in a twist or two and you get one of the better games of the last couple of years. My main complaint if I have to choose one is that not much was added to the PS3 version other than new powers and a couple bells and whistles but overall great title.

Overall 9 Would yea kindles out of 10

(Now I do not own a Wii or a DS so I cant name off anything for the two consoles sorry!)

Best MMO
World of Warcraft : Wrath of the Lich king
Okay as a Rabid Wow addict this was almost a gimme except I was about to choose Warhammer because I immensely enjoyed that title, the PVP was spot on and it was easy to pick up and play, but I didn't care for the Art direction in the game and thought the graphics were kinda lame, but that's a personal preference. The reason WOW got my pick is because I played the new class and it was so much Fun I had trouble putting the game down for a couple of months leveling my little gnome Death Knight. The game add so many cool things like quests that alter the area your questing in and an evolving story line that makes the main foe actually feel like he's a force to be reckoned with. All this combined with the art and graphics that feel serious and cartoony at the same time its enough to keep any wow player chugging along. Also it made me feel more like I felt when the game first came out, so that was a major plus for me.

overall 7 Afk Raid Members out of 10

Developer of the Year.
Valve
Okay this was hard because it was between Valve and Bethesda Software. Both companies are extremely hardworking and rarely put out bad titles but in this case I felt that Valve really not only put out great games but they add content to all the games they have out, because in addition to releasing Left 4 Dead they released new content for Team Fortress 2 and have plans for more content for that and many other titles (including Left 4 dead) this pretty much makes the choice a no brainer.

Best Party Game
Rock Band 2
There are two music / Rhythm games that came out this year, and to be honest RB2 is the better of the two because this is a game that is you own the first one you were able to transfer your tracks and keep on rocking. I have had more fun playing this game with friends that most games I own this year. The reason it beats out Guitar hero in my mind is because the game has a better Interface, it's basic and fluid, and because Harmonix release new tracks every week (I think theres like 500+ songs you can download now) so you can pick your favorite song and have fun embarrassing yourself by singing along.Downside is the Price, but you can just buy the game alone and use the instruments from the previous game.

Overall 8 Real Guitars out of 10

This is my second attempt at reviewing old/"classic" horror films. In this episode, I review a little film known as The Mutilator (or Fall Break). I hope you enjoy and please comment. Criticisms and bashings are welcome. Well...?
