Hello, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I'm here to do a top 10 list of my favorite films of 08. 08 has been quite the year for film. Everything to good films (Dark Knight, Wall-E, Let The Right One In, etc) to very bad (The Love Guru, 10000 BC, Meet The Spartans). I hope you enjoy my list of my top 10 of 08. And, before I begin, the Honorable Mention is Iron Man.

10. Cloverfield.

It's pretty much one those "You have to put it on here or else (insert name of studio here) will come to your house and kick your ass". Nah, I'm kidding. I know a lot of people don't like this and I sure as hell know a lot of people who love this. It met up to my expectations and made me scream like a girl in some parts. While this isn't up to same quality of the other two monster movies that came out last year (i.e. The Mist, The Host), Cloverfield is still an impressive entry in the Giant monster movie genre.

And a little food for thought on this: You do realize that monster was only a baby, right? And that it's still alive?

9. Burn After Reading.

To quote a lot of people who have said this about this movie: "It's a smart movie about a bunch of dumb asses." Violent, vulgar, and surprising amount of goofy fun, The Coen Bros newest film may not be as good as last year's No Country For Old Men, but another great film from them never the less.

8. Funny Games.

A sadomasochistic satire that isn't fair. Some people call it complete waste of time, some call it a brilliant horror thriller about the nature of violence in the media and how it can affect people. I'm actually in the middle about it. I found it darkly funny, shocking and just evil. And to quote of the evil little boys in this: "You shouldn't forget the importance of entertainment."

7. Tropic Thunder.

To me, the best comedy I've seen this year. That and it features what I think is the most memorable quote of the year: "IMA LEAD FARMER, MUTHAFUCKA!"

6. The Dark Knight.

Chris Nolan does justice to the Batman name with what is being called "the best superhero movie ever" and "the best film ever made." While I think that's overdoing it with acclaim, TDK is still an excellent example of film making. Can't wait to see what's from Mr. Nolan's magical hat of films next.

5. Gran Torino.

"Get off my lawn" scowls Clint Eastwood while he points an M1 Garand rifle at a bunch of thugs. It's been said that this is his last thing he'll do as an actor. If only it weren't true.

4. Slumdog Millionaire.

Does Danny Boyle have magic in his sleeve? The answer: Yes. Yes he does.

3. Wall-E.

Even the most cold-hearted person can't help but go "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" at Pixar's latest. Wall-E is definitely going to get more than just Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. You can just about see it what else it's going to be nominated for.

2. Let The Right One In.

THIS is how you do a vampire love story, Cathrine Hardwick and Stephine Meyer! A slow, but violent and wonderfully made love story that is not meant for the impatient or faint of heart. And, I have to say, I felt as if it it did justice to the vampire genre. It doesn't fluff them up or reinvent them; No, it feels like a true vampire movie.

And the best of films of 08 for me is.....

1. Changeling.

Odd seeing this as my pick for the year, eh? Clint Eastwood has quite the reputation, both as an actor and a director. While Changeling is not exactly something like Letters From Iwo Jima or Million Dollar Baby, Mr. Eastwood knows how to make movies. And Changeling is a perfect example of that. I hope that Angelina Jolie gets an Oscar nod for her performance in this (crosses fingers for good luck).

I realize I still need to see more films ( Doubt, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, etc.) but I hope you enjoyed my favorites of 08. So, what are yours?

Great list. I think my favourite of 2008 would be The Dark Knight, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Iron Man.
